Mr. Nay, you are born as an English man, but your heart is POLISH (had to write with huge capital letters). I left Poland still under communism as a young man and established myself in the USA. Your programs about Poland make my heart bleed with love for the country and the people. If I watch more of your material about Poland, I might come back. Mr. Nay may the Lord Almighty bless you and all that love Poland.

Went to the Warsaw uprising museum last year. They have an interactive map that shows the rise and collapse of the resistance. It was the most moving exhibit there as it showed the scope of what they accomplished and how they were betrayed by the 'Allies'.

Thank you for this broadcast. My Father was in the Polish Navy during WWII! The last ship he sailed on is now a museum in Gdansk the ORP Błyskawica. We need to remember history. We need to know what our forefathers did to preserver our freedoms. Let us not repeat history.

Thanks to you and Ola for providing a comprehensive overview of the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the start of the Warsaw Uprising, as it has been informative in the ceremonies, locations, and westerners of Polish heritage who had stories to share that were told to them by their parents and grandparents. The uprising is important to remember, as throughout modern history, great powers have encouraged oppressed people to rise up and claim their freedom only to be left to their own devices without sufficient intervention or support for their movements to achieve their desired results in deposing tyranny and oppressive regimes.

I found this exhilarating to watch. I am a fourth-generation Polish Texan transplanted to NYC. The first time I went to Warsaw was in 1982 about halfway into to the Martial Law period. I just spent a few days there but I took a train to Częstochowa for the observance of the 600th anniversary of the Czarna Madonna coming to Jasna Gora from where it had been revered for years in Hungary. It's like Poland and Hungary have shared the same queen throughout history. Not supposed to say stuff like that these days, I know. I knew about the Warsaw Uprising because of the Polish nuns who taught me at Catholic school in a small Texas town, but it wasn't even mentioned in the public schools, at least not in my part of the country. When I was in college I saw a Polish movie set during the uprising and I identified with it and it reinforced my sense of Polishness in a sea of white-bread America. The devotion of the characters was what struck me. It was devotion that I learned from my Polish-American upbringing. My grandmother's devotion to Mary was the first I ever saw of devotion and I liked it. But never devotion to some leader like Hitler or Stalin or to some -ism, only devotion to Spirit. Watching your coverage of the anniversary proceedings makes me feel a strong sense of devotion to Poland's ancient, yet perennially high ideals of freedom. What Warsaw and all of Poland experienced in wartime has been hush-hushed and mangled by those who bear grievances because of their own hand in the devastation done on Poland by those who were devoted to a leader or an -ism, definitely not devotion to Spirit. Seeing the crowds and hearing the speeches displays the devotion I mean.

Bravo Bravo Patrick and your crew for honoring this remarkable 75th anniversary! I was hoping to be there by now, but alas...I visited Warsaw three times as a touring musician. I had the great honor to know Matthew Bogdan Sydow, who fought in the ‘44 Uprising and was the son of the great Chopin scholar, Bronislaw Edward Sydow. Matthew’s brother, Andrzej, fought and died in the Uprising. Matthew survived in Scotland and sadly passed in 2008. A truly remarkable man! If you are interested, please kindly see a photo of “Matt” and bit more of the story at my website www.robyncarmichael.com/bio Many grateful thanks!

I was born in Warszawa after the head of the Soviet commies, murderous Joseph Stalin finally has died !!!! I was raised in this city. The municipality with so many scars being made not only by the barbaric German SS und Wehrmacht army during their occupation time, but especially during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. Moreover, also a post-war socialist era has been so terrible time for Polish people in Poland. I am the son of this magnificent city, with the roots of my family a couple of solid generations back in time living in Warszawa, remembering the periods, when POLAND was not visible on the map of Europe at all. My country was taken over and divided between three superpowers that time: Imperial Russia, Imperial Prussia & Austro-Hungarian Empire, for as long as the period of 125 years, up to the end of the Great War (November 11th, 1918) !!!!

Success in the battle it's not only material or military success, but the real victory is the victory of spirit. Bar's Upraising (Konfederacja Barska),January Upraising didn't suceed, but thank's to the spirit of those upraisings Poland finally ressurected in 1918. Just read J.Piłsudski's diary. During communism and III Republic there were only lies about Konfederacja Barska! P.S. Sorry for my English :)
