@@gragor11 Nah, the CPR is still kicking. But the CN is the larger of the two, and the only true Canadian transcontinental, as it links Vancouver to Halifax to New Orleans and back. A true coast to coast railroad.

@thomasboese37935 жыл бұрын
CN lucked out, SOO LINE/CP kept the ex MILW line with the tunnel. Most of Wisconsin's rail right-of-ways are saw-tooth profiles. Granted, not very long or very steep; which can make for very interesting train handling on long heavy trains.

looks like a fairly busy mainline. does this track go to Chicago? Twin cities?
@thomasboese37935 жыл бұрын
The point of view is at MP 220.8 on the Neenah Sub. To the East is the Waukesha Sub going to Chicago; to the WEST is the Superior Sub going to Stinson Yard. At MP 308.5 on the Superior Sub is a Jct with the Minneapolis Sub going to Superior. Between Neenah and Chicago is the busiest part of the old Wisconsin Central Ltd/Soo Line/Wisconsin Central. Find one of the spider diagrams of WC (there are four of them online) and you will wonder why the old WC/Soo Line/WC Ltd and the CN haven't double tracked most of the first two subdivisions. Lots of trains; yes, there are long time gaps at times between groups of "EB" vs "WB" at any given point. I taught both of my daughters how to count sitting trackside with cameras and a cooler in the shade of a tree in the '90s when the WC almost had a train every 25 to 45 minutes on the Chicago Sub. (now Waukesha Sub - The IC also has a Chicago Sub and the CN kept the IC's and renamed the WC's.)

No spacer cars between engines and tanks! Thought because it was going west, that it was empty. But if that was true, there would be no engine on the back! Brand New GEs from Fort Worth?
@fixedgearfever695 жыл бұрын
King doughnut I didn’t see a buffer car.
@josephchamplin50505 жыл бұрын
Possible that it's running empty and the trailing unit, or perhaps some on the units up front are offline for fuel conservation.
@icecardinal5 жыл бұрын
Yes, new. CN frequently takes delivery of new Tier IV and Tier IV Credit units like this. Sometimes many run to Winnipeg, MB for official delivery. U757 today looked great.
@kingdoughnut72445 жыл бұрын
@@icecardinal, yeah I live in Lansing MI, Across the river from CN's Flint sub, Chicago to Toronto main line. I thought we would see everything CN has, but there is a lot of CN equipment down on the IC main that does not make it up here, like the CN/CC coal hoppers! But I'm sure those 100 anniversary units will make there way through here sometime in the future.
@kingdoughnut72445 жыл бұрын
@@josephchamplin5050, you're right. Sounds like the lead engine and the DPU are the only ones running.

Eight locos running flat out would surely produce a humongous drawbar force at the front of the train.
@tbb2365 жыл бұрын
All 8 weren’t running though. I’ve been told by multiple conductors and engineers during conversations while they change crews that they can only power 3 locomotives on the head end or it’ll strain and break the couplers. Pretty interesting.
