It's finally here!
Today we embarked on a journey to the Western Side of Wisconsin to chase the first portion of the CPKC Final Spike tour to Chicago after their stay in the Twin Cities, featuring the recently overhauled CP H1b Hudson #2816 aka the Empress embarking an trans-national excursion from Calgary, AB to Mexico City, Mexico to celebrate the one year anniversary of the CPKC Merger and the railroad celebrated by having the 2816 partake on this tour. The 2816 holds some sentimental value to me as she was the first ever Steam Engine I ever saw in person back in 2007 when I was a kid.
In this video you'll see the 2816 steam her way along the CPKC's Tomah Subdivision on her way to Portage, Wisconsin to tie up for the night before leaving for Chicago the following day as well as seeing a yard job in La Crosse before the Empress showed up. It was truly an amazing sight to see the Empress in steam after all these years and a good kick off to this year's Steam Season. Enjoy!
