The running gag is that the big bad runs his gang like a stern but fair teacher running a kindergarden group or primary school class, thus deconstructing the usual tropes on that subject.

The guy is Sky du Mont, a very well-known actor in Germany. There is the song in this film "The Superperforator". Is funny too.

Germany has its own history of western books and films. The most important writer was Karl May, who newer was in the US but wrote many books about the american west. It his books the native americans were often the heroes and he influenced the picture of the american west for us Germans as nobody else. So, Bullys films are not about the real american west but always a parody of old german films.

Actually, he was in the US, but long after he wrote most of his books set there. Same with the Middle East

"Der Schuh des Manitu" came before "Traumschiff Surprise". Michael "Bully" Herbig is a big fan of the Novels from Karl May and movies, that were produced based upon them. He is also a Star Trek Fan. And the small skits, that came before the two movies, were always part of his Show "Bullyparade". The leader of the bad guys is Sky du Mont and before that, he mostly had serious acting roles. I think his real breakthrough as actor was in Roland Emmerich's movie "Das Boot"

Roland Emmerich? Wolfgang Petersen did "das Boot" Emmerich first movie is from 1984. das Boot is from 1981 Sky du Monts was in the movie, but not on U-96. He was an in that scene on the "Weser"

Michael "Bully" Herbig created and ran a TV comedy show, that featured a number of short sketches of parodies of famous stories or movies, amoung other recurring scenes. The most famous among them were the parody of the "Wild West" books (and the movies based on these) by Karl May, Star Trek, and the 1950s sentimental movies around Austrian Empress Elisabeth "Sissi". The show was decently successful, enough for Herbig to consider expanding these short skits into full movies. The Karl May ones became "Der Schuh des Manitu", the Star Trek ones provided the basis for "(T)Raumschiff Surprise", and the Sissi clips were turned into the animated movie "Lissi und der Wilde Kaiser". All of them hillarious. Many of the clips from the "Bullyparade" are available on YT.

Sky is EPIC in this movie. This is a hilarious Slapstick movie that makes fun of everthing seen in old westerns

The characters' outfits reference the old German films from the 60s so much that I prefer to think of this as a parody of those films rather than of Karl May's 19th century novels.

Cause they are? They are literally using the Brauner May-Films as obvious permanent references. Couldn`t find much actual referecnes to the books in there. And Skye Du Mont is a wonderful Santer^^.

Yes it is the Guy from Eyes wide shot. Bully Herbig really wanted him for the role, also because he would then be listed below Stanley Kubic as a director on Sky Dumont's resume.

Michael „Bully“ Herbig, the main writer and producer of this movie and also playing the Apache main character, is basically the German pendant to Mike Myers.

Yes its the same crew. The man with the wite hair is Sky Dumont. Its a very popular actor in Germany.

This is a satire of the “Karl May films”. Karl May (1842-1912) is very well known in Germany but not in the US or Canada, although most films are about there. Here you practically grew up with Karl May. The films were for the whole family. He was an author of adventure novels and travelogues. But his problem was that he never traveled at the time, but was often in prison for petty crimes and heard stories from travelers there. His best-known books are “Winnetou" (Chief of the Apaches). These books were told from the perspective of a European, as they imagined the West to be. The books were later made into films in the 1960s and became very popular. The french Pierre Brice played Winnetou and Lex Barker played Old Shatterhand. It was shot in Yugoslavia. These films were typical of the West for Europeans and, ironically, no one in America knows the films.

Yes, you are right! The actor Skye du Mont had a small role in "Eyes wide shut" 1999. (I googled it).🤣 ..."Gute Nacht" is correct.

If you like (spaghetti) westerns, you should definitely check out the ones with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. Since you're Canadian, I assume you don't know them/these guys (am I right?) because they're not that famous in America. They're huge, legendary actually, in Europe though. Maybe even react to some of their fight scenes (from their later movies, after the westerns), they're great and fun to watch.

The difference between "Nacht" and "Nackt" is "night" and "nude". The pronounciation is difficult for native english speakers like the "th" is a little challenging for us Germans ;) Or the "he/she/it das "S" muss mit"!!!!!

There's a trailer in english where the original cast dubs themselves for this movie, too. Unfortunately, the full-length film is dubbed by other voice actors; the original cast synchro is way funnier in my view :)
