DashcamDriversGermany has an English channel as well, though he discontinued posting videos there. It's called KrautObservations.

I still remember one specific incident on one of our Channels. You saw, that our driver was in a construction site on the Autobahn and from behind, a BMW rushed to his position. The traffic was tight and there were only 80 km/h allowed in the site. But the BMW still gave him headlight flasher and honked at him. When the site ended, our driver speeded up, but the driver of the BMW was injured in his honor, because our driver didn't (COULDN'T!) let him pass in the site. So the BMW overtook our driver, brake checked him and slowed him down to a full stop one the middle lane of a 3 lane Autobahn. Then two guys (southern look) step outside the BMW, came to our driver and tried to punch him. Luckily, he had his windows rolled up so they couldn't harm him. When they saw his Dashcam, they stepped back into their car, drove off but our driver followed them, called the police and a few minutes later, the BMW was stopped at a resting place. It turned out, that the guys were known by the police and the driver was not allowed to drive anyway, because he lost his driver's lincense a few months ago. Both of them went to jail for driving without permission and Assault and battery.

Love watching that channel, as soon as they release the videos I click. The scene at 9:01 includes a pedestrian island as it is called in German. While it helps pedestrians cross the road, they have no right of way at it.

The only time I ever called the police was to inform dispatch that a license plate was on the autobahn. It was folded so someone probably already ran over it. The sharp edges can be dangerous

Excellent analysis of the "red/white vehicle" situation. These things are simply universal -- if the car in front of you clearly has "issues", stay back. It will either clear up by itself when the driver has decided where he wants to go, or he's finished with his smartphone, or it will turn into you calling the police because the guy appears to be drunk. Btw, the 7:30 situation isn't just a slight misjudgement -- the other car isn't even allowed to make that turn. The commentator doesn't mention that, though. As for anticipating such situations -- I'm not saying it's a general rule, but it appears that some dashcam drivers might tone down their "anticipation" and defensive driving in favor of getting "better" videos...

"but it appears that some dashcam drivers might tone down their "anticipation" and defensive driving in favor of getting "better" videos" Yes, there's at least one clip in every video I think that's the case.

I don't know the rules in Canada, maybe they are the same, so I'll just explain as if they were not: When you said you would slow down because you can already see that the car wants to turn, you were right to expect him being stupid. But rules are not for nothing and the rule says, that whoever wants to turn has to wait. You'd become an obstacle yourself if you'd stop for example at any green light, just because someone else could potentially be stupid. The problem with the guy walking on the street is not the guy. There's a rule that the driver who has an obstacle on his side has to wait, but all the cars just drove by in the middle of the lane. The pov car would've had the right of way.

Speedlimit here in Germany is in the City 50km/h, in the Landside its 100km/h and on the Autobahn (our highway-system) there is a recommended speed of 130Km/h on every kilometer of the Autobahn but mostly its open, so as long as the traffic and street situation is favorable you could go 300km/h But to make it easier to understand, you dont need to go 100km/h in the Landside but you cant "block" traffic by driving slow, also you dont need to do 130km/h on the Autobahn , because the minimum needed speed to enter it is 60km/h but if you would only go 60km/h on the Autobahn, well you gonna get hated by EVERY car and semi, but cruising at 100-120km/h is very nice. the highest speed what i did on the autobahn was 220km/h, but its exhausting to drive that for a while because you need to constantly watch every car around you . because if you mess it up and overlook someone , well, its not pretty what can happen. I spend quite a lot of my time on German Streets because i m a Test Driver for Mercedes and there are many hazards if youre not aware all the time For the Pedestrian Crosswalk, its the Sign that does the job, it dosent need to be the crosswalk itself, if its only the crosswalk and not the sign you dont need to stop for them but its nicer.

1:45 Innerorts, also wahrscheinlich 50 km/h. In town, so probably 50 km/h.

8:40 this is a huge misunderstanding by foreigners about german laws. In germany, there is no law about jay-walking. it IS LEGAL to cross the road at any point. The only exception is you cannot cross a red pedestrian light, but if you are as little as 5 meters away from it, it's perfectly fine to cross the road so long as you make sure you don't force cars to have to brake because of you. The misonception comes from the fact that germans yell at you for crossing red lights because you're a bad influence to children, so the foreigners go "oh that must mean jaywalking is illegal"

8:40 no j-walking laws here, this is technically a very easy case, those who cross straight traffic have to yield, so the mother and kids should have waited on the "pedestrian isle" and recheck if the road is clear (also I personally would stop and let them cross) 9:15 the one with the hindrance on their side has to yield, so the oncoming cars would have had to yield to the cam and if there’s no sidewalk, one walks on the left side of the road here, this way one can see the car that’s hitting you (or can jump to the side) ^^

8:50 To put it simply: "Jaywalking" does not exist in this form in the StVO (German road traffic regulations). Crossing the road is usually permitted as long as no specific rule prohibits it. At this point it is even clearly permitted, as there is a so-called "Querungshilfe" (crossing aid). The driver should at least have slowed down here.

Jaywalking laws in Germany are easy, there are none. You are allowed to cross wherever you can safely do so (You are not allowed to cross the Autobahn though). So in reality you only get into trouble if you cause an accident by crossing outside of a traffic light or pedestrian crossing. As if you caused an accident, it obviously was not safe to cross.

@cyclist: By law it would have been the car drivers fault - and that is the reason why they dare to drive around like that: If you don't want to end in court, you have to prevent the accident - not the cyclist. Defensive Drive Mode: Feature is unknown in Germany.

Depends what you call entertaining. DDG-Leon doesn't do sensationalim, he is quite instructive and he often uses the situation as teachable moments. He tends to calculate the speed of the cars in some situations and illustrates the dangers, especially the hidden ones, of some situations. His very calm, ironic commentary is a far cry from the over the top verbiage, if there is such, of US offerings. Your mileage may vary, of course.
