This match was the season kick-off for the CRPS Eastern division. A beautiful spring day gave shooters some tricky winds to deal with for this match. Follow along through the stages with me and my squad to see how it went!

Great shooting to start off the season. The guy at 38:54 with the DIY palm rest is inspiring me to go ahead and cobble one together (similar to what you'd see in 3-position smallbore) just to use in standing. Granted, I don't anticipate to use it much, but it should be pretty cheap to make on out of a block of delrin (or even wood) and a spare Arca clamp.

Thanks. Yeah a buddy of mine on the squad recently made the palm rest and brought it out for the first time at the match. I'd say it may help in standing, but gets in the way for prone, it's a bit too far forward. Perhaps if it bent backwards to be under the mag it would work better. I find the Vudoo mag's footprint to give enough material that it makes for a comfortable-enough palm rest for 2 min stages.

How do you feel about the Tuna Can? Congrats - been watching your videos and looking to get into some 22 competition.

It didn't make much different for my heavy MTU barrel, but it definitely can affect some barrels. The only way to know is testing. I left it on my Vudoo because it provided nice forward weight for balance, and the rifle still shot great with it.

I am learning and your videos are great at giving insight. I noticed you have a tool open on your multi-tool. I thought it was a mistake, but at one point you dropped the tool. Once you put it back on your belt...it's still open. I am curious, why do you leave it open and which tool is it? Thank you.

Thanks. The tool was just a small flat head in case I needed to pry out a stuck brass from the chamber, luckily I never had to use that, it was just a precaution.

What scope zoom you shoot at ? I done see you to adjust parallax ?! How often you have to shoot from tripod ? What support bag is attached under your rifle? Thanks

Hi Matt and congratulations on a great competition there. I always enjoy your videos, you always look like you're having so much fun while you're doing it and that's what it should be all about. After watching your videos and Josh’s from Pursuit of Accuracy I'm thinking of building a semi automatic 22 long rifle, probably a Kidd rifle. I was wondering about your thoughts on barrel length and the effect that it has on accuracy with various ammo brands. I am just an old fart that enjoys shooting and will probably never compete and probably will do more bench shooting than anything else. I am most likely to shoot Norma Tac 22 or CCI standard velocity than anything else and was just wondering if you thought a longer barrel on a Kidd rifle would work better than a shorter barrel. What ball head are you running on the tripod and would you go the 32mm if you could

The ball head I was using was just pulled off my old tripod, it's the Manfrotto XPRO.. I don't shoot off tripod much at all, it's more for spotting and rear support. If I were to shoot off tripod more frequently, I'd look into the higher weight capacity tripod models and probably one of the Anvil heads from RRS.

Just wondering what are the average range distances at theses matches are you allowed to zero verify your gun. Is it just 50m or can you check and true your rifle at further distances ? Thanks for all the great videos and effort you put into these, you're doing a great job helping others

this match they had 6 ranging targets with the furthest one out to 320 yards.

All the matches I’ve attended have a zeroing board (usually at 50yds, although this match was at 50m), any confirmation targets out past that is at the discretion of the match director. I’d say from what I’ve seen most match do not have confirmation targets apart from the zero board.

I've noticed using the Tactacam Fts, you sacrifice quality and function. Is this something you've just accepted? Great video, always enjoy watching your content.

Yeah, exactly. It’s not ideal and I don’t recommend anyone shoot a match with the tactacam if they want the best performance out of their optics. I have a range vlog where I discuss this in more detail.
