There used to be a cap on how much landlords could raise your rent per year in Ontario. It was 4% across the board….. until Ford decided to create a housing crisis. He knew what he was doing. He changed the laws so that now landlords that own any properties that were made rentals after 2018 can raise the rent AS MUCH AS THEY WANT. AND THEY DID. And he profited bc he was of course, in business with all the companies and COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES that then went out and bought up tens of thousands of properties that were now no longer available to Canadian families bc they were split up into rooms and rented to students for upwards of $6000 month. There are currently 3 houses on our street alone in our city that have at least 5-10 foreign students renting. Not only are they over crowded, the colleges don’t care bc they charged these kids 3x what they should be already!! It’s a crime and the whole education system is a joke and crooked as heck. Our education system is literally being used to scam an entire generation of kids that literally left their entire families and went across the WORLD to create better lives for themselves, and our government is treating them horribly and allowing people to think our countries problems are bc of them, when it’s our OWN GOVERNMENT THAT IS THE PROBLEM! and I’ve never been more ashamed to be Canadian than I am right now. It makes me sick. This is why we have people living in tents. Not bc of immigration. They are trying to distract you from what’s really going on. I had a bad experience with a Nigerian doctor....saw her 4 times and she didn't touch me at all...She would look at my injury and go back to her computer..my retired Canadian doctor would have taken a good look, told me what it was, suggested some treatment options and had a conversation with me. They are not up to Canadian standards.
