Too right! In the UK, it's called positive discrimination, an oxymoron if ever there was one. There are problems, of course, but they begin at the younger end of the education system and don't seem to get any better as those young children get older. But, positive discrimination isn't the answer.

@vmoney65

@@diamondb.6115 which women are you talking about? Beyond that, I wish women would make up their minds as to whether they really want to be treated the same as men because IF they do, they need to surrender their priority seating alongside the children in the lifeboats. IF they do, we can stop letting them use the state as their gangster force to make men subsidize the consequences of their sexual and reproductive choices. IF they do, we can disband women's sports and make them qualify alongside men. Women don't want the exact same treatment as men. They want they want the special treatment of having access to any position in the board room without having to hold their own digging ditches and every other infrastructure dirty job that makes their existence possible.

Far too many black people want pity and have a victim mentality. Most white people really don’t care and just live their lives as normal. Yet black people think about being a victim of racism and white supremacy all the time. When in reality us whites don’t care about how you live your lives. We just work to put food on the table and go home to our kids. We don’t worry about you. Yet your community seems to worry how we live our lives and how we think of you though.

I’m not a black man but it’s good that you are voicing this. As a white guy I can’t speak those words because way too many people conclude that I’m ‘racist’ for my opinions which as you’ve probably guessed mirror yours. I don’t want black people or anyone else to suffer; what I want is for everyone to achieve their maximum potential, to feel ‘worthy,’ to live free. “Equality” has less to do with laws and more to do with attitudes; racism has - counterintuitively- little to do with ‘intent’ and everything to do with core values. Virtually everyone benefits from a hand up, while bureaucratic handouts put people or keep people “in their place” and that ‘place’ is engineered by the supposed benefactor(s). That’s inhumane imho, and is not in the spirit of post-civil-war education opportunities. (One wouldn’t educate a populace if one believes that subset population was incapable of receiving and succeeding with that educational hand up, for example) I don’t think we have to make believe that ‘bad things’ are not in our collective past, but neither should we fund the poverty or lack of mobility of an entire population subset. It’s so difficult as a white guy to say things that make sense in our current society. We have much bigger problems to solve than being constantly ‘distracted’ by racial divides.

Feeling sorry for someone has no subtle racism, it becomes racist when you take that feeling and essentially promote laziness as well as a sense of entitlement for people who otherwise (based on merit, not other issues like socio-economic ones) would never be accepted into those places over people of other races who actually merit those positions

@@whillb feeling sorry for someone puts you above the one you feel sorry for. It allows you to feel good about your self. You’re a benevolent being feeling sad for the plight of this victim. So especially when someone feels sorry for another human being based on skin color, it’s a subtle form of racism.

I believe (R)acism will end when we recognize anyone of any color can be (R)acist. Dems have Black Americans believing they cannot be because they are Black. That is BS. That ideology has created the next Generation of (R)acism in America. Led once again by Democrats. Dems were (R)acist to Blacks for 100 years after the Civil War. Democrats are now (R)acist towards white people,. They believe as long as it's towards whites it's Justified, even though not one of them went through anything they complain about. Like slavery or Jim Crow. Which by the way, J Crow laws were created by Democrats, Republicans freed the slaves. Dems teach those facts backwards to our children. (K)KK was started by Democrats in 1865. In 2010, Biden gave a Eulogy for Robert Byrd. Byrd was a Former (K)KK recruiter, turned US Senator, and Biden, on video, called him a good man and a mentor. Don’t tell me you let white conservatives brainwash you into believing that all you have to do is FORGET YOUR ANCESTORS SUFFERING AND DYING and FORGET SLAVERY and FORGET YOUR OWN HISTORY- Once you forget about it all, only then can a black person be "successful” in life. Never mention your own peoples history and only look out for yourself! Stop trying to be a race that bands together and make things happen! Stop calling each other "brothers and sisters” Stop saying "our people” "my people”. Stop trying to stay together as one people! Because if you don’t stop remembering your own black history and if you don’t stop saying these things and if you don’t stop showing love and respect towards one another calling each other brothers and sisters and kings and queens while having these thoughts of sticking together as ONE people.. Then you are ALL doomed to be a "victim” stuck in "victimhood”!!!!!! Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for that BS tactic they use by telling us that forgetting our own history is the one and the only SUPER CURE to all our black problems and struggles in life. Meanwhile--Whites every single year on July 4th for hundreds of years now they shoot their guns and set off fireworks and eat watermelon on picnic blankets and celebrate their own history of gaining their freedom and Independence. They tell us to forget about Juneteenth our own "Independence Day” And they HATE black history month and they’re tired of it being forced on them. They’ve officially made themselves "victims” of black history month. We can’t honor nor remember Malcolm’s X And we can’t move forward if we do! We’ll be stuck in victimhood if we do this.. @@caroc4327 No you leave him alone!! Leave the entire black community alone! Stop trying to tell us how to think and how to feel! Stop thinking you know better than we do and you know what we think and how our minds work. Stop attempting to spread this devil doctrine to the black youth! They have the right to know who they are and who they come from and know their own identity. You can’t indoctrinate them all into believing that they don’t need to know about or hear about who they are because if they do they won’t get anywhere, gain anything, improve themselves, go forward with their lives, make any progress, will fail at everything, fall into a non existent "victimhood” coma and never come back out, and become permanently doomed. That’s outrageous and flat out ridiculous. You people can’t block out our children from learning about themselves but instead only allow and even encourage them to learn all about white people and American history -Boston Tea Party, Columbus 1492, President George Washington and how he was; "Very honest and never told a lie,” Lady Liberty, the eras of Reform and Imperialism, World War I, the 1920s and Great Depression, World War II, Cold Wars and all else that pertain to a people that are NOT their own. But to spread these false doctrines that the black community must eliminate their own ancestry/true identity and conform to the conservative ideology and be who they want us to be -while under their rule/thumb is a mind control tactic. White Conservatives are re-writing black American history, using civil rights against blacks who fought for them, and standing in front of young students in middle schools and telling outrageous and bare-faced lies such as "The Tulsa Race Massacre had nothing to do with race/racism”. That is literally a brainwash attempt, and a bold one. They want to wash the facts out of your brain, Re-define the definition of what "race and racism” is., all because they don’t want to face any accountability. Hypocrites! Who tell black people to their faces that "color doesn’t matter” …… Oh.. BUT except when it comes to a mythical sea fish creature fantasy character in a children’s movie- Now all of a sudden: Color, race, ethnicity, skin shade, hair color, eye color, height, weight, age, nose shapes, hair texture, and every human physical trait known to mankind ALL MATTERS AND CHANGE MUST BE STOPPED!!!! One minute: They accuse blacks of being the ones who are "keeping racism alive” by our remembrance and recognition of our own ancestral past mothers and fathers struggle and plight. Next minute: They say "Racism doesn’t exist and it never has.” Wait so how can they accuse black Americans of keeping something alive that doesn’t exist and never has?? Those psychos are the delusional ones. Conservatives antagonize the LGBT community by ridiculing them and calling them "delusional” But you can’t find a better example of delusional when dealing with the mindset of Conservatives. They are the LEADERS of the greatest delusional cult ever. And they indoctrinate other people as well- to become just as nuts as they are. Like this black man’s comment I’m under right now Smh. When the Asian American community is broken down into its respective ethnic groups, a drastically different picture emerges. The poverty rate among Nepalese Americans is 21 percent higher than the official poverty rate. Hmong Americans are 20 percent less likely to have a bachelor’s degree or more than the average American. In contrast, 70 percent of Indian Americans have at least a bachelor degree, and their average household income is 80 percent higher than the American average. The myth continues to be used as evidence against institutional racism. If Asians can do well, it says, any minority group can, if they just apply themselves. But research suggests that the upward mobility of Asian Americans over the past century is actually a result of post-war declines in labor market discrimination against them as compared to other minorities. Meanwhile, restrictive immigration policies since 1965 have favored and attracted highly educated Asians to the United States. In contrast, most African Americans can trace their family history back to generations of slavery, followed by a century and a half of systematic racism. Even as labor market discrimination against Asian Americans has declined, studies show that institutional discrimination never disappeared. Asian job applicants with “whitened” first names received a 7 percent higher callback rate than those with “ethnically Asian” first names. Asian renters and home buyers are told about and shown fewer units than whites with the same economic background, and Asian home buyers are offered less financial help. Since 9/11, the New York Police Department has subjected Muslim Americans, many from Asia, to discriminatory religious profiling and unlawful surveillance. The Justice Department’s Harvard investigation is based on the idea that whites and Asian Americans are facing discrimination. However, ramping up affirmative action in college admissions could actually benefit underrepresented Asian American groups. At the University of California in Berkeley, which bans race conscious admissions, Asian Americans, who make up about 15 percent of the college-aged population in California, make up more than 40 percent of the student body. I would trust their opinion over a right wing grifter named Candace Owen.. or this other Woman..

This would be similar to me taking blacks who live in a small region making six figures on average as proof that there is no problem with black poverty. 2. What research? From who? 3. If we are accepting more high level Asians and that is the reason for more success, what does this say about blacks? Corporate greed sees no color. They love money more than anything. If a black man can make them money, they will hire black men in droves. See every major sports league that is now 90% black after originally being segregated. If you're going to pull the "institutional racism" and slavery cards, be specific. What exactly are you talking about? What exactly is stopping a black man from working in a factory and getting promoted to shift manager? Then raising his son with a wife and helping that son go to college and live an even better life than his dad? The answer is nothing. In fact, this exact story happens a lot. Just not enough, because the statistics show that not enough black men want to stick around, love God, and be loving dad's and husband's. That's literally the first step and the foundation to generational success. Instead, we have rap culture promoting the opposite. To not be a dad. All women are hoes. Love 'em and leave 'em. No mention of God. All talk of drugs and victim mentality. The only one's holding black men back are themselves. Even with rap culture and not sticking around to be a dad. They choose to follow that culture. Of course, we're speaking in general here. There are good black men. Just not enough. Btw, you are guilty of the soft bigotry of low expectations. Get out of your circle and live life. Go to a ghetto for the first time. Live rough. Hold everyone to the same standard. Your opinion would drastically change.

The point of Affirmative Action was not to take pity on black people, it was to level the admissions process for those black people who did meet or exceed what was required of them to get into schools only to be passed over, in most cases, by someone who was white with subpar grades simply because they were black. For some odd reason it’s like some of our people forgot that history.

@@christianguthrie2430some how you missed the point, when it was enacted those with the right qualifications didn’t get the chance they deserved at those institutions because of their skin color, again it was to level the playing field. The thing is it benefited white women more than any black person. Somehow these new aged conversations make it seem as if black people leap frogged any and everyone who had better grades and that was never true. The fact that some of you look at the remedy as the problem instead of the fucked up system that caused these biases because of race is really fucking odd. I actually agree. We need to investigate and shutdown institutions that are proven to unconstitutionally practice racism. Affirmative Action was never the answer. Reparations has always been especially given how trivial it is prove racism in America. Keep in mind that in the entire history of America, there has NEVER been a generation of white Americans that black Americans ACCUSED of being racism, that didn't DENY being racist only to be shown by history to have actually BEEN racist. As a batting average, African Americans are batting 100% whereas white people are conversely batting 0%. I'll take those odds to any court in the land. The BEST white people collectively have ever been able to claim is to have been LESS RACIST than their previous generations. EVERY TIME white people declare the end of racism in America, shortly after the gaslighting begins, either some racist white cop shoots an unarmed black person on video and lies about it or some Karen loses goes viral for unnecessarily doing some really racist sh*t against black people minding their own business.

Amen, just like George W Bush never benefitted from being a Bush despite getting into Yale with a C average as a legacy student. That said, I am also against Affirmative Action because it doesn't really address the problem. White people like to pretend that their unconstitutional discrimination is hard to prove. It's not. In fact, it's trivial to prove both in history and today... and where it is proven I favor REPARATIONS and other COMPENSATION instead of Affirmative Action. Why? Because that addresses the problem by making white people put their tax dollars where their Constitution is.

I couldn't agree more! It is super insulting to insinuate that they are incapable of succeeding on their own. The individuals hired while Affirmative Action exists will never know if they were hired because you believe they are inferior or because you felt they were the most qualified candidate. Rather than lowering standards, put more money towards better education/tutoring for any students who need extra help regardless of the color of their skin.

@@edengebremeskel1678 I will. Nigerians in Africa don't even call themselves blk. Many would agree with my statement. Like it doesn't even mean anything in Nigeria. Nigerians only call themselves blk when they are exposed to blk Americans. A Nigerian not exposed to blk Americans, like the tribal people, would agree with my statement. It's only Nigerians who see blk Americans and want to attach themselves to us. If you don't believe me, ask a tribal Nigerian that's not exposed to blk Americans. Do you think those tribes are calling themselves blk?

Affirmative action gives us more diverse, less skilled, doctors. When medical school accepts students on anything other than the highest performing applicants we are choosing prescriptions solely on skin color and not by who's most likely to save our lives. There's no place for affirmative action in medicine, or anywhere though less consequential in a field like media for example, even while we work out how racist alternative action is in all the other schools.
@DaCuCat
@DaCuCat Жыл бұрын
@@MedicKaiba irrelevant. I honestly don't care how underprivileged you were or how few chances you got or whatever entitlement a cultural community has to being downtrodden when it comes to practicing medicine and saving lives. The fact is is that Asian American immigrants were just as downtrodden and financially deprived though they achieved status of some of the best students. I want a medical practitioner who's the best, period. Debating how racist or not racist affirmative action is is fine but there's never a place in medicine for a doctor who's black with lower scores over a doctor who's white with higher scores just because of the color of their skin. I don't want someone working on me because it's more equitable. If I've got a problem and require surgery I want the smartest sharpest most capable doctor and I honestly don't care what kind of social change it prevents. Why should I give my life for the virtuousness of what other people think is fair, but I happen to disagree with anyway. We can continue to sacrifice the quality of the work the educated do for the sake of what we think is virtuous as long as it's in a low consequences industry. In industries like flying planes, saving lives, etc. It should remain merit-based, which I kind of think is how it all should be anyway. It's insulting and disparaging to tell ethnicities that they don't have to do as well and they can get in, it sends a message that you don't expect more. That's racist. You don't lower levels for someone because they're black, that's truly racist. People ought to rise to standard, color blind, levels of expectations. We've noted social standards enough already.

Things change when people realize they can take advantage of something that others need to get a higher standing. We have people fighting tooth and nail for it so they can get an easy ride on something they can claim victimhood for. Black people are able to achieve the same things as white people, you do not need affirmative action now.

As a black woman with a Master’s Degree in MFT Counseling/Therapy, I agree 100%. However, affirmative action is a set of procedures designed to; eliminate unlawful discrimination among applicants, remedy the results of such prior discrimination, and prevent such discrimination. I know many white who are in leadership positions and “don’t” qualify for their position. There are black people who are in positions they don’t have the qualifications for either. At the end of the day, people should be hired based upon their qualifications, what they can bring to the organization, their work ethic, and personality.

I live in Mexico. I was explaining to my wife the other day about the derogatory terms used in America for the different skin colors. When I got down to the derogatory terms for whites she was surprised, because she said she'd never heard that one before. I explained to her that the most likely resson is that white people don't tend to associate that insult to their entire racial group when they hear it, unlike blacks who, regardless of who it is directed at, they go ballistic, DESPITE them saying it and PROMOTING it ALL the time. She immediately concluded that black americans are more quickly to victimize themselves. She nailed it. And this self victimizing is encouraged by certain political groups, because that's how you keep them voting on the plantation.

@kirkdarling4120

At this point, I think that will be significantly the case until Boomers (and I'm one) have been moved out of those positions of authority. That is, after all, the reason Affirmative Action was put into place... _not_ because of "feeling sorry" for minorities, but because it was well understood in 1964 that the Civil Rights Act would be largely ignored by white individuals in those positions. Up until the last 20 years, I had thought that we Boomers were the transitional generation out of segregation, but looking at how my generation reacted to the election of Barack Obama, I see that we are actually the last generation of segregation...as a generation we have _not_ transitioned from the mindset of segregation that was inculcated into us as children. I think Affirmative Action has an expiration date, but I also think that date coincides with the expiration of the Boomer generation.
