Just the simple, nonchalant demeanor of MOST people back in those days is astonishing!!😎 People today would have been up in arms and in your face; must have been the simplicity of life, after two great world wars, Korea, and early Vietnam. Pretty sad we desperately need some humility and positive vibes😊 in American society

I'm glad I lived when I did. Most people were rather nice out in public. I noticed a decline after 2000 & then by 2014, it all went to hell. Candid Camera was one of my favs of the 50s & 60s.

This was one of many classic stunts on Candid Camera, which has aired in numerous incarnations since its radio days in the 1940s. The humor came from real people "caught in the act of being themselves." It was a very funny show and I will close with this line used by Allen Funt and his co-hosts over the years. "Don't be surprised if sometime, somehow, somewhere when you least expect it, someone will come up to you and say "Smile! You're on Candid Camera."

Someone should have hurriedly set up a snail crossing behind the vehicles so they weren't able to retreat back to Pennsylvania either! These folks were much more mild-mannered than the people being barred from Texas.

Even back then, Mike, film cameras were about the same size as today. The camera was in a van, parked about 20 feet away. -Peter

Oh he hasn't forgotten it's a state. When his motorcade comes in, they close Route 141 and even I-95 outside of Wilmington from the airport to his house. We can it a "Joe Jam". That's almost the width of the state at that point.
