I have a question does the wick matter if you are using different sizes of silicone molds?or do you use the same type of wick but in different sizes? Sorry I'm new at candle-making
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles 2 ай бұрын
Hello, in my experience when you have found a wick serie that works in your wax (and fragrance if you are using it) then you simply need to test the size to achieve the burn that you expect.

Do you ever have to cut the moulds to get the candle out? Do you have any tips on how to reuse the mould if you end up having to do that?
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles Жыл бұрын
If needed the mould needs to be cut before pouring in a way that won’t damage the design. And you can reuse them
@papasitoOC
@papasitoOC Жыл бұрын
I’ve had to cut mine down one side about maybe 80-85% of the way. Then I used rubber bands around the mold that fit around it snug but not too tight too avoid mis-shaping the mold before pouring

@marion | Glowed how many pours do you get from a silicone mold before needing to replace it? I’ve seen mixed messages on Google searches where ppl say it can last for several years and another person states they only last half a dozen times. I’m thinking only 6 pours each mold is scary considering how expensive a single mold can be
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the moulds. It is a bit of a learning curve but the thinner the mould the more likely it is to break (bubble moulds are horrible for that). Moulds are an investment and good ones don’t come cheap.

When do you add color to the soy wax, after it is melted? And if so, do you stir it to get it to spread around evenly? I am new to candle making this way and I need guidance. Thank you dear. You seem to do this as I would printing my name. I sure could use the help. I want to make candles for everyone at Christmas time. I have these tiny saguaro cacti candles and they are the cutest candles, in green. Now I want to make my own. Stocking stuffers now. Next year tall candles. I think I will start out small with votive candles and I love those silicon bubble candles. You just unmolded one. I want to make blue for my daughter as that is her fave color. Thank you so much for your help.

Hello, You need to had the colour once wax is melted and is still hot (exact temperature is different for each wax brand). Then use a long spoon to stir until it is even. Good luck!

Hi! can you please advice which wick to use for acrylic ribbed mold large and medium? I am in UK and I am using TCR wicks, also which wick to use for bubble candle, blind fold candle large, braided mould medium?
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles 11 ай бұрын
There is no answer for this except you need to test and see what works with: - the wax you use - the dye you use (if any) - the fragrance oil % load (if any) Start by measuring your mould diameter and then refer to the TCR size table for reference. Always start with the smaller one and work your way up.

Hey, I personally think it is a waste of money to add FO to pillar candles. The melt pool of a pillar candle is never going to be good enough to throw fragrance properly. FO are expensive so I prefer not to.

hi, can I use pure beeswax for pillar candles ?
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles Жыл бұрын
Hello, if you are making tapper candles it is an excellent choice as long as they are not scented. However for candles made in moulds it is too breakable. Moulded candles require a wax made specifically for pillar candles.
@gracierosemiller4411
@gracierosemiller4411 Жыл бұрын
I disagree about not being able to use beeswax in molds because that is what I use 100% and no breakages but beeswax does not hold FO very well so they would have to be FO-free.

I've never soaked any cotton wicks because usually they're already pre-waxed. I always soak wood wicks in olive oil though
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles Жыл бұрын
For scented candles they are usually pre-soaked for decorative candles I don’t. However the wick will absorb some of the wax and you will need a little top up of wax to reach the top of the mould.

Can you burn this candles? Because there is no metal at the bottom of the candles.
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles Жыл бұрын
I believe you are referring to the wick sustainer that flies to the bottom of a jar. That metal piece is not an indicator of whether or not a candle can be burn. They are there to hold the wick and allow perfect centering in a vessel.

I've always wondered if it leaks wax or the thread alone stops the wax? Nothing else required at the bottom?
@GlowedCandles
@GlowedCandles Жыл бұрын
It depends on the molds. For silicone mold, if you consistently use a needle to thread the wick the wick is enough. For acrylic mold you will defo need something else, I use blue tack.
