One of the firsts of BM? Yes technically, but he probably thought extreme metal was "trendy" back then since there was plenty of extreme metal bands at the time. Some people just seek new genres to make a trend out of it ;)

This video is an example of one of the things I truly love about Metal with all my heart. Earnestness and a total disregard for other's opinions or standards. Many people think this video is ridiculous, amateurish and stupid. I find it honest, heartfelt and genuine. I wish more people tried harder to own their inner selves than spend so much energy trying to be "cool". Self-awareness should be about embracing self, not converting it into other's molds.

I was 23 when I bought "Nightfall" in 1987 and I never looked back since then. The medieval themes, the vocals, the lyrics, all come together to create a VERY unique listening experience. I still listen to them to this day.

Also, King Diamond really helped Candlemass get their popularity. They were already semi-well known in Europe from their first album. Lots of heavy metal people loved them, but the states and other places weren't too familiar with them. Sooo, King Diamond took them on a big tour in '87 to get them some recognition. Great band!!!

For some reason, I keep coming back to this clip. Idk why, I just think it's funny and I really like it. I don't like the people saying it's stupid and cringe. I mean yes, it's highly cheesy, but that's fun. Things don't have to be serious always; I think some metalheads need a sense of humor. Anyways I'm curious if anyone knows about the background, did they *know* they were making something cheesy and do that in purpose? Or were they 100% serious about it... I don't know which would make it better

I just doubt someone could carry out that "fiddle" part 100% self seriously 🤣 but it's great!

Can't you see, the devil in me Just take a look in my eyes I will play for you, this wicked melody It's magic will reach for your soul It burns inside, no place to hide This strange tune possesses your mind It comes over you, and the nightmare is true You'll enter the realm of the dark You are bewitched... Bewitched be delight, you'll reach the night Dancing and singing to my fiddle So take my hand, and understand That no-one will see you again You are bewitched... I am the master of the enchanted tune I'll play for your joy, for your soul, for you doom My fingers they dance upon the strings like fire Weaving a spell of my burning desire Sing with me, meet your destiny Set yourself free to the magic So come with me, my kingdom to see Believe me you're captured my friend You are bewitched...

This song is true mid 80's classic doom metal. The "doom metal stomp" well heheheh.....that's another story. People need to understand that back then when it comes on music videos, some metal musicians were not good at acting; so yes....Messiah looked goofy acting in this video but Also keep in mind that there were other metal musicians who also were bad actors in music videos back then. Also people have to consider the year it was made, so when it comes to Messiah's hairdo, it was one of the 80's-not so famous- but classics (few other metal musicians had it too back then), but his vocals were really that good. BUT the facts still remain that this is a classic Candlemass's song and many of today's bands were influenced by them. Plus Pelle "Dead" Ohlin,(ex Morbid) the best vocalist the band Mayhem ever had was indeed in this although funny and goofy but yet a classic and golden video.
