Many thanks, Larry! I'm getting from your video a lot of answers to my questions. Also, I'd like to ask your opinion on the following: Most of the pattern recognition functions were built with the intention of analyzing the data with the interval 1Day. Based on my understanding, narrowing down to more granular intervals like 15m-60m we can observe more "trading opportunities". However, there must be some "downsides"... What is your opinion? Thanks in advance.

Nope. I was trying the "Morning Star" for SPY from 2020-01-01 to 2020-08-01 with the interval *60m* . The result is: "2020-01-22 12:30:00-05:00 100" "2020-02-24 13:30:00-05:00 100" "2020-03-03 14:30:00-05:00 100" "2020-03-06 15:30:00-05:00 100" "2020-07-24 13:30:00-04:00 100" Just reading the chart I would not buy on any of those points.

Larry you are indeed the best. FWIW tho, you would need one hell of a fast computer to be reviewing all these patterns for every time period for every stock symbol concurrently. Like honestly I think Google has that crazy fast computer that might be able to do it; or i'm sure you could own racks and racks of servers but my point is simply a basic macbook or pc isn't going to cut it..
@parttimelarry
@parttimelarry 3 жыл бұрын
True, this is just a simple example on the Macbook that anyone can follow. As far as deployment and scalability of servers, I cover AWS, Heroku, and other cloud services on this channel. An individual at home can spin up the same Amazon EC2 and Google Compute instances that the largest tech companies in the world use. I know because I work at one of them :). On my more recent videos, I am discussing Docker Containers. If you have the need to parallelize or scale a lot of computation, you can use Amazon Elastic Load Balancer and Elastic Container Service and set up a rule to spin up as many instances as you want. But that is probably beyond the scope of what I will teach in this channel. Let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see as far as server development.

Hey very great content! Thank you for your time and energy. Iit would be really great to know how to apply pattern recognition to get in and also out. Don't you recommend to combine indicators like RSI and Channeling for example? I would be really appreciated if you could focus a little bit on day trading. You might show indicators or logics for short term trades and also compare it to mid term ones probably? I am really curious about the in and out logics applied on real time trades.

On thing that i would like to ask here is: how are these patterns sensitive to the sampling, because the candles are basically a discretization of a faster movement, and the patterns appear different based on where the start and end of a candle discretization interval lies. Is there a reason to believe these patterns are not extremely sensitive to the discretization ? is there patterns that do appear regardless of the phase of the candle? it would be interesting to have the raw price data and build candles from x0 to xi and then from x1 to xi+1 , x2 to xi +2 and so on , also the length of the candle i could be varied, my intuition is that the patterns do somewhat also appear , but there may be some that are just not detectable by pure luck because the sampling is the way it is.

Hi Larry. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You are doing a great job communicating and making it to look simple. I’m not very knowlegable in Python, so I aplogize if my question is not profound. But it could help others too... I cannot run the line: num = talib.CDLMORNINGSTAR(data['Open'], data['High'], data['Low'], data['Close']) It rises this error: TypeError: Argument 'open' has incorrect type (expected numpy.ndarray, got Series) I tried with: num = talib.CDLMORNINGSTAR(data['Open'].values, data['High'].values, data['Low'].values, data['Close'].values) But it returns the result without the Dates column, which is quite useful when filtering the data down with: print(num[num != 0]) How can I go arround this? Thank you in advance.

the funny thing is that if you experience one of those moments you really don't need confirmation or anything... the sense of this is ok... and it's pretty valuable in all honesty. but the reason why engulfing pattern is a thing... is because the price is really toooooo low. During the week... stocks like coca cola were yielding 7% the stock was at 45 - 47 usd... which is a great price This can help out to scout levels but you must have already a good idea on what you are buying and why.

I downloaded from the Talib page and installed with pip. I think this video describes the process. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y9p4dqR2v-C5mJc.html

i'm very new to TA, still have lot to study, it would be great to see a tutorial showing how you can combine indicators to make decisions on creating orders to buy or sell. my project is to develop a short term trading bot, because the long i already take care myself .. in the crypto world, short term trading is very difficult because you have 192819281982 bots running and you cant make your orders in time lol.

Did you watch this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fcqcect3m83Oe6M.html I think that one is what most people want, it is continuation of the binance work and shows subscribing to websocket data and making indicator based trades. This just uses RSI for the example but you can plug in whatever you want in that part.

@@hersheybar7286 I had difficulties with it, I was probably incorrect to say "for anyone". There are a few more steps needed on windows, though.

Video is very instructive but why would someone make a trading bot that utilises bullshit Candlestick-TA? What winning rate? What testability? This is inane.

would love to watch a video from you about modelling volatility with a garch model, or ornstein or what not. This not much a critic of you or your videos, but more about the idea that TA is the only way. Whereas it is a bunch of pseudo scientific self-fulfilling assumptions bundled together.

Sure, I will add to the roadmap. But yes, this video is a tutorial on TALib, so it's definitely going to have either indicators or candlestick patterns since that is what the library does. Backtesting tutorials are in my videos on backtrader. I agree with adding more variety - will be discussing numerai competition and Advances in Financial Machine Learning in the future. Thanks for providing some specifics on what you want to see, this is helpful.

Most expensive book I ever bought and a complete waste of money - the sophisticated patterns rely upon gaps to in opening & closes which don't happen on 24hr day-trading platforms, the rest of it is obvious! (if you can't spot bearish or bullish engulfing patterns without a book good luck).
