The candy manufacturers are probably more than happy to provide the desk with candy, in terms of good will and good publicity exposure, right senator? in my neighborhood we pass out candy to as many as 600 trick r treaters on one night, its starting to feel like a tax, but the crowds are worth it. I appreciate the gesture of having a candy desk and it is very befitting for Pennsylvania to have this honor, however small in appearance it may be in the scope of things.

Too bad it’s the Republican side of the isle. I’d love to have the candy desk.

I'm a Democrat, but the reason why the candy desk is on the Republican side has nothing to do with politics. The Republican side is also where the entrance to the Senate chamber is located so senators can grab candies when they come. There's also one candy desk on the Democrat side and it also has nothing to do with politics. It's just for Democrat politicians who doesn't want to traverse the whole big room to get candies

Who pays for the candy? Taxpayers, RNC, or the candy lobby?

The senator at the desk pays for the candy themselves.

Nevermind, they used to pay. Now candy makers from the states donate.
