First thanks for watching Antoine! but it feels this is a bit of a Cold Take as far as your comments about mic placement and direction. A Stereo Mic pair was used with a sound recorder, not the camera Audio. The mic placement in this particular setting has no bearing on the pickup of the individuals in the mic field or them being "fuller" because as long as they were in front of the mics they never left the pickup field & no falloff occured, Research on ORTF Stereo Technique if you'd like more insight into my Mic Configuration. If I was spot miking sections or individuals to supplement an AB Stereo configuration + boosting frequencies then you might have a case for fuller. My mics are very sensitive & quick with transients so it gives you a fairly transparent representation of what's being put out. If the group is unbalanced it will sound unbalanced in the recording, if the balance of instrumentation is different it will be evident. If 2 individuals out of the ensemble are playing with their bells up towards the mic and the rest are angled towards the floor you will hear it, If they're behind the mic then it's going to sound like they're behind the mic, if they're beside the mic it's going to sound like they're beside the mic. You have to take into account set up of the groups. CR had their trumpets front & Center with their bones in chairs, East had a wall of woodwinds with brass a good 3-4 feet behind not standing in chairs 🤷🏾‍♂️ & drums further back. Nothing as far as sound has been manipulated, no clipping, no compression, no additive EQ or boosting frequencies, Just a High pass filter 20hz - 40hz to remove rumble & send it. If you look closely, the people talking were directly in front of the mics while the trombones were behind the mics after they ran up. Can't skip over the direction of the trombones sound field due to the bell or the human element of positioning.... if someone is standing behind you playing with the bell facing away from you while someone is in your face talking you'll definitely be able to hear the speaker Alot better than someone with their bell facing the back of your head. You also have to understand this isn't a binaural setup these were cardioid mics used to provide a near realistic stereo image.
