Let me make this simple. The most damage Benavidez did to Plant was the headbutt. Despite dominating the second half of the fight he could not drop Plant. Canelo finished Plant off by dropping him twice in the 11th. Canelo has never been dropped. Benavidez got dropped by Gavril. WHO?? Exactly. There is levels to this. And if styles make fights, Benavidez would be lamb to the slaughter for Canelo as he would pick him apart.

I wasn't sure Benavidez had what it took until he bloodied up Caleb Plant. He didn't KO Plant like Canelo did, but it was clear he slowly took over the fight and by the later rounds looked dominant against Plant, just like Canelo did. That fight convinced me he could hang with Canelo.
