There is other competition at 160-168 to fight that would actually look better on his resume. Crawford apparently walks around at 170+ tho, which kinda looks like he can easily go up in weight and fight, but he'll have to fight someone else first in a higher weight class before taking canelo on.

He knows no matter how you spin it he won’t gain much, he knows he can’t go down in weight like he used to, he knows if the fight happens at 168 and he wins he won’t get any credit because Crawford had to move up 3 weight classes. And if Crawford wins at 168 even tho that’s a lot of weight to put on it’ll be an even bigger loss than his recent one to bolvi, which he moved up in weight to fight in.
