We see Trace digging in his beds, pushing with his front feet. Why is he doing this? It looks like he is having fun. Another thing he does is bite on his beds. We ended taking them up and learned he just prefers a blanket on the floor.

Trace was probably just getting comfortable or maybe even playing with this bed. It's good that you took it away if he was biting it.

Our dogs are in crates when we travel with them. One of our dogs will dig at the bedding in the crate if we humans are thoughtless and don't warm up the car before leaving. She doesn't like the cold bedding. She doesn't do this in warmer weather of if we've warmed the car up in the colder weather.

The very first time we put our 9 week old puppy in the new crate, she pooped and peed in it. I had set it up as a nice bedroom with blankets and toys but she only used it as a bathroom. She's very wild and torments my other two dogs so I wanted the crate to keep her away from them and so that she didn't have full run of the house when we were out. Now I'm thinking of returning it. 😢

Hi Bella, I know it’s probably extremely frustrating to deal with these issues, just wanted to provide some encouragement on sticking with it, it’s a 9 week old puppy and is still learning. She has a video called introducing a “puppy to a dog”and she goes over some of your issues. Really good video. Good luck with your newest member! Give her a chance ❤

Love your channel, completely disagree with your explanation of pancaking. In my experience it's the dog saying "I don't want to go where were headed" and that probably means back home. It can also mean "I want to go over there and you want me to go this way" and it's a way of refusing your leadership on the walk. "Either we sit here or you carry me" is also a reason for pancaking. Has nothing to do with being overwhelmed, obviously a dog will lay down due to any sort of negative situation but when you're walking and they pancake, you can easily unpancake by leading them in the direction they want to go. If they don't want to go anywhere, carry them home or take a nap on the spot.

In our experience pancaking means "I don't want to go there" or "I'm too overwhelmed to continue". Either way it's time to listen to the dog and either change your direction or try a new method. We don't recommend picking up the dog, as you take away the dog's ability to communicate his feelings about where you're going.

Not all dogs like to snuggle. But I'm sure there are other things you can do together that build your bond. Have you tried decompression walks or fun enrichment activities?

My puppy will dig before taking a nap, so I know that when I see her starting to dig on a towel or the rug, that she needs to go for a nap really soon.

Michelle maybe is a silly question but what time is the best for start training my 3 months old Golden Retriever is my first time N I don’t know if I do mornings when he’s so full of energy or I can do and afternoons 🫣🤷🏻‍♀️🫶🐾🐾🐾 thank you so much 🙏

It's best to do training in very short periods in the middle of the wake window, when your pup isn't full of energy but isn't getting too tired either. Her wake window should be no longer than 1.5 to 2 hours at this age. After that period she'll need another nap and then the cycle repeats! Try to fit in a short training session into each wake window.
