This episode is "right on time", since I have started a larger colony of various Cannas this year. I am looking forward to over wintering & saving my rhizomes for next year's season. So far, I am getting great foliage. However, only one pot of my Cleopatra Cannas is in bloom as it was always the tallest baby to begin with. I believe that all of the others will catch up. Although I love them all, the Cleopatra's are my absolute favorites. I made a point of choosing varieties of colors and sizes. All of them were planted in about 12 urn style, matching, planters. Many of my neighbors and strangers have been "sharing" into my gate. I told "God" that He really out did Himself this year. I will remember to make sure the Cannas have enough water. I appreciate your tutorial assistance.

I have a cana I live in washington in the u s a. For some reason this summer I only got two flowers and that was it. I see to where 2 flowers tried to open but didn't.

Hi thank you for sharing and apologies for late response as I am out of country. Sometimes it could be the result of under watering. Cannas require alot of water especially during the heat wave. It also requires full sun. Also check to see if the rhizomes are congested and need division. Keep me posted and we can together find a solution.

Thanks for this video. I have one question for you, when you store the rhizome, do you leave it bare or put it in soil?

Hi, thnk you so much for following my channel. When overwintering Canna, once the rhizomes are dry place them in a carton with crunched newspapers and cover them with either newpapers, peat moss or vermiculite. The whole point is your want to keep them dry and insulated. Once done store in a dry environment such as basement, garage or even a cupboard. Why my canna produce brown tips and edges but they are glowering

When you get brown edging and tips could a result of under watering or overwatering. Cannas are thirsty plants and you are experiencing a hot summer make sure you water the soil around the Canna roots. Overwatering could result in mushy roots, but I don't think it's that as your plants seems happy and flowering. Just in case, check the underside of the leaves, just incase it's pests. They love hiding. if there is nothing then we can eliminate that.

Do canna lilies need to be fertilized

You can fertize them during the growing period, in spring as they start getting their new shoots and also in summer when they bloom. Get a fertiliser that is high on Phosphorus to encourage blooming and rhizome development. an NPK 5:10:5
