It's nice here too. High of 15 degrees celsius and - 2 degrees celsius overnight on Friday. A really hard frost, my birdbaths were frozen solid. I use the same sizes you do for what you mentioned. Minus the meat. I've never canned meat. I have Bernardin, Ball, Mason, and Crown. Some were my Mom's and some have glass lids with the rubber seal with the wide galvanized bands. My 2 litres I use to store dry stuff. I use my Mom's Canning recipes and have found some of my own also. Bernardin has good recipes. I got sugar on sale as well. 1$ for a regular sized package. Got some vinegar for $1.47 for 4L. Great video! There's so much to learn and it's so rewarding. ☺

I've had a difficult time understanding the difference in units. It seems that Americans invented their own sizes. An "Imperial Pint" is not the same as a "US Liquid Pint", so a pint is not a pint at the end of the day. Same for Quart measurements. Now I know why I'm confused.

Can I can a butter sauce that contains onions? I would like to ship it. Is that safe?
@NorthshorePreparedness3 жыл бұрын
You know what Tricey, I don't think that would be safe. Typically when butter is canned it is just melted, put into the jars hot, and the lid is put on. The cooling will create a vacuum which will seal the jar. Usually when someone makes a butter sauce like garlic butter for example, it is typically frozen for storage. I wouldn't recommend pressure canning butter/butter sauce OR shipping it. You may find another source will offer different information on canning butter/sauce, but this is what I have for you. Maybe check the Ball canning website for more accurate info and recommendations.
