@reallifewithali my mom used to freeze sweet corn every year. It tasted sooo yummy in the winter. She canned or froze everything she possibly could from her and dad's huge garden, plus fruit from the orchard and deer meat. I miss that wonderful food! I appreciate your video so much - it gave me confidence to try canning peaches on my own 💜

Ali! You’re back! Thanks for the tutorial. I ❤ how thorough you explain everything. I’m scared to can (and I don’t have anything to can lol), but this was awesome. If you have any tips for like a ton of basil, I’m all ears lol. Why did I plant two basil plants?!

Thank you! You can borrow a canner from a friend and go to the farmers market to get the produce you need. It's so worth it! It is a little bit of an investment in the beginning because you have to purchase jars, but again, it's worth it to me. I have like 6 basil plants! Haha. And I haven't done anything with them yet. 🤦🏻‍♀ Pesto is one of my favorite things to preserve with basil. I just put it in tiny jars or in a ziplock bag and freeze I also have a yummy tomato basil soup I make and freeze. I also just dry it! Wash it and lay it out on a towel to dry thoroughly. Lay them on a cookie sheet and bake at 200 degrees or the lowest your oven with go for about 1-3 hours. Flip them every 45 mins or so so they dry evenly.

I never even thought 💭 of drying them, omg! Duh! Ok, next tutorial is how you make pesto, because I’ve been thinking of doing that. 😁

I’m drooling over all those freshly picked peaches on your counter!!! This video really makes the process look simple for someone who has never canned (like myself). I also didn’t know there were clingy and non-clingy peaches. How long would you say that whole process takes?
@reallifewithali
@reallifewithali 9 ай бұрын
The time depends on a few things, but I would say for 7 quarts size jars the total time would be about 2-3hrs. It depends on the size of your peaches. When they are big, you aren’t spending as much time peeling and can fit fewer peaches into a jar.

Do you put the lemon juice in each jar or in the syrup??
@reallifewithali
@reallifewithali 2 күн бұрын
I don't put lemon juice in my peaches, but if I were to, I would put it directly in the jar before adding the peaches and the juice. I hope that helps!
