There are few songs that move me as much as this one, my favorite Carter family tune. Maybe ol' Sherri from Cawood Kentucky felt like this when I left , but more likely she was listening to the Alan Parsons Project. This live version has so much feeling, just plaintive. But Sheri also said "warshed" just like the Carter Family.

This song is part of a full concert from the Smithsonian’s “Women in Country Music” series. It took place in May 1975 at the Baird Auditorium in Washington, DC. Maybelle, her daughter Helen and her grandson David were accompanied by Ralph Rinzler and Mike Seeger. The concert features Maybelle talking about her career in music, as well as demonstrating her guitar-playing styles.

@@dmoor10 As far as I know, there is no film. The Smithsonian has posted audio of the entire concert.

This is one of the recordings from the Smithsonian recordings. I believe Mike Seeger is the gentleman that is helping. I love the way they talk through the song , it's great ! Like they had been singing together their whole life.

I think it is Ralph Rinzler speaking at the beginning of the song. Mike Seeger was there, on stage, throughout the concert. Helen played guitar for some of the concert, at Maybelle's insistence, but not on this song.
