This park also offers surfing lessons in the wave pool. I did this the last time we went a few years ago, and despite being horribly ill, I had a blast and even got the hang of changing direction by the end of it. It’s early in the morning though, so if you don’t wanna do that on vacation, I understand that too.

Great review of Typhoon Lagoon. I was lucky to go there on its opening summer in 1989 (lived in Jax FL so short trip), and always had such fond memories. We live far from FL now so I wanted to do some research on all Orlando’s water parks as I plan my next trip since visits there are more involved than the quick out and backs of my youth. Looking to pick a water park my kids would really enjoy. This video really showed me Typhoon Lagoon is still a great place, especially with a younger child where extreme slides are a bit too much, and look forward to visiting again 34 years later!

Trust me it's a six foot wave and if anything it's undersized. First half of your body is below the water so you are only about 3 foot tall in comparison to the wave face so a true six foot wave would be twice as tall as you. Second a breaking wave is always proceeded by a trough or valley in the water increasing it's appearance of height while you are facing the wave. It's a great wave pool, the best in Orlando and one of the best in the country so I'm not trying to take anything away from it but you don't need to oversell it.

Husband and I got to go in early May. I had never been to a Disney water park, but he's an avid swimmer, so it was one of his requests. There was hardly a wait for anything. Crushin' Gusher was a walk-on. Longest we waited in line was for Mayday Falls, and that's just cuz we waited a little bit to get on, but even then it was 15 mins maybe. This was during the Blizzard Beach closure as well, so it's not like the other park was eating capacity. Really excellent park, beautifully themed and a joy to be at. Plus that wave pool, *chef's kiss*. Other than the kinda short hours (closed at I think 4:30 but that may have been cuz they were trying to do a separately ticket night even which... not gonna lie sounds awful given that it was at most 70 degrees at night), the huge amount of effort it took to get there, and the fact that I got a liiiiiittle chilly a couple times when I was in the shade to long, we had a fantastic time. Definitely worth the visit during that time of year.

For me I have to pick Blizzard Beach over this. They're both great but I like the slide lineup at Blizzard Beach a lot more and the ski theme is more unique compared to the tropical theme that can be found at multiple parks besides this one. But there is one advantage this park has over Blizzard Beach and it's that they've added new addition over the last few decades while Blizzard Beach hasn't added anything since opening.

As an Orlando native, I agree that Typhoon Lagoon is the best water park in the area! I'm not a huge fan of Blizzard Beach. Volcano Bay doesn't quite do it, but I'd say it's a good runner-up. Aquatica used to be pretty great, but it's kind of gone down hill. I used to work at Island H2O Water Park, which is attached to the Margaritaville Resort in Kissimmee. It's nothing spectacular at all, pretty basic stuff

I like this park more then Blizzard Beach. It's overall more well rounded and Crush n Gusher is the most fun waterside at Disney.

They really put the Disney "love" in the creation of this water park. Considering what was once in the Orlando area Wet N Wild, Aquatica. Typhoon still holds its own.

I'm shocked that this waterpark doesn't draw huge crowds, considering Volcano Bay seems to always be slammed.
