I feel for ya. I get bad welts from bug bites. It's painful, not just itchy, for me. I swell up and feel bad all over. That's what a lot of people don't understand. When you have that kind of allergic reaction, it makes you feel bad all over, not just at the spot where you were bit, because the reaction causes your whole body to react. It is even worse if the insect has even a mild venom. If your body is allergic, it affects your whole body. I always get a headache too when bug bites get all irritated that way too.

What do they use for smudging ceremonies? You know where they have some kind of grass that smokes but doesn't have a flame. Would that hurt the tent to do some kind of smudging in there? It would be mostly smoke, right? I'm asking anyone who might know on this one. I learn a lot in the comments sections of your videos.

Ugh Joe please don't do raid sponsorship, there is pretty much no sponsor worse than them... They are literally a unregulated casino ran by the head of the casino board in the US, who has publically said many times that he wanted to make gambling unregulated through games, and then he did it with raid shadow legends. I mean I'd rather see you sponsored by the local weed dealer in your area than this. This is ugh a disgrace. I love your content though, I just do not want to see you go downhill like this...

Hi Joe, great job on this video with you and Doug. We're finally opening up even though the numbers jumped over 200%, but no fatalities. Kind of hot here but maybe soon we can go enjoy God's creation. Stay safe and next time take some Benadryl with you as well as Calamine lotion. Also there's insect netting you can wear on your head. I have one because I deal with the same issue. Peace!

You really need to take precautionary medications with you. Anti-histamines: both topical and ingested; also some anti-inflammatories. Those streaks look like infections... you should take antibiotics with you. That's not being a whimp; those are your tools to let you do this safely. We worry about you, just to be clear.

At the very end he says he has antibiotics and prednisone (steroid) but he left the bag at the hotel.
@Objective-Observer
@Objective-Observer 4 жыл бұрын
@@mimiso2522 He had antihistamines and a steroid; no antibiotics. Prednisone is a steroid to help the body combat the allergic reaction. The problem with steroids, they suppress the immune system, making infection a big risk. He should think of those, as more important than his fire steel, so that he never leaves them behind.

No kidding!! The bite is nothing compared to what fiddling with it with filthy camping fingers can cause! I apologize for getting gross about it, but the bite is not The Thing to obsess about. It’s hands not well cleaned after pooping that will get you in deep trouble - like blood poisoning, sepsis and organ failure!

@@tedc3895 As a fan of All Things Outdoors and woman who runs a cigar shop/lounge...I cannot agree more! We sell Denobli cigarillos...those dry-cured 'Economy' packs. They are in a red, green and white 5-pack. One of my outdoorsy customers (I have a LOT of them) said he can stand in the middle of a swampy area while fishing with one of those burning...and the bugs HATE it. Doesn't really smoke them...just lights one and keeps it in his mouth. Couple of puffs to keep it going. We all joke about how garbage they are...but we found a purpose! Love to find a cigar comment in the wild :)

Hey Joe, I have a tip for your bug bites. Been following you for a while and never thought to mention this before. There's an allergy tablet called Piriton, its treats skin, food, pet, and a few other allergies. Also, Insect bites. I've never had an allergy pill help so much with bug bites!! The brand is Piriton (Chlorphenamine Maleate) it's British, so if you can't find it on amazon, I know there's an off brand version you get there. I highly recommend!!! My hives from bug bite are significantly better after 30 minutes.

Just received a pair of GPX Por pants and you were right on. Extremely well made and heavy fabric in all the critical locations. At first I thought they would be to heavy and hot for summer use but as I checked out the design and the location of the breathable fabric they just might be fine. Going up to the south shore of Lake Superior at the end of the month for 10 days and will give them a work out. Like the tight angles but still will permethrin treat the pants before going. Think these were a great fined. Thanks

For those fly-bites i can recommend the "BiteAway". It heats up the spot where they bit for a few seconds to 60°C and that destroys the protein of the "poison". If you use it right away there will be no swelling, itching or pain (works also with bees and wasps..). We love it! Our son reacty badly to our biting flys aswell.

Joe....I live in NE PA and fished northern Quebec above Val D'or for many many years. The black flies could be really bad. You need to get a wide brimmed hat with a pull down net that surrounds your head....They are great and can turn a nightmare trip into an enjoyable one. Also there sprays and anti bug scents you can apply. One of my friends swears by Vicks Vapo Rub....smears it on his hat brim....sleeves and pants cuffs

You ever try putting pure vanilla extract on for black flies? Put some in a little spray bottle and use it like bug spray. Also, I bought a boonie hat that has a bug net that drops down - life saver. It has a string that draws it tight on your neck so they can't get inside the veil too.
