Canoeing the Swale (and testing my new Hawkeye Firefly 8s action cam)

6 жыл бұрынThe Swale from Grinton to Richmond by open canoe. River rising from 0.1 to 0.2 according to Riverapp. Lovely river, would probably be even nicer with another foot of water in it!
For those interested in the camera, it's the Firefly 8s 170 degree version. Not the best video to demonstrate the camera on youtube, all that moving water and the low hanging leafy branches don't work well with youtube compression. Video straight from the camera is very nice.
Recorded at 1080p30, with gyro on and EV set to -1.0, everything else on default.
Reduced saturation and boosted gamma a little in post, because of personal taste and overdoing the exposure compensation in camera, I think EV -0.7 might be about right.

Richmond to Catterick is also fun in a trad open (if you can catch it with some water in it, that is).

Thanks Peter, I'll check it out if I get the chance. I keep getting distracted by other rivers, but the Swale is a little gem.

How did you attach the cam?

For this video it's just a standard helmet mount. If you've been watching my other videos shot from the back of the boat, that's a flat mount stuck to the end deck with a curved extension arm to give it a little height. Hope that helps.
