The C70 has no VF. I got the C200 second hand two weeks ago. I will shot mainly Surfaction at the beach with stabilised Canon glas 24-105 and 70-200. I prefer RAW because I use BMPCC 6k BRAW a lot.

2 X a7iv's i a killer starting kit for video work. Im a wedding photographer going more into video and that's my starting gear. While i'm getting more jobs in video they can be used for wedding photos meanwhile. The topics you pick out here on the channel have a lot of value for me and i can tell you using your stuff in real world scenarios and not just for testing. It's a pity useful info is not valued as high as polished content that no people doing paid jobs have any use for. but the polished stuff sells to the mass. But just wanted to give some credit to this channel. cheers

I just want a C100mii that has audio i/o on the body like the 200. Love everything about that cam except the hideous top handle.

If ur still primarily delivering in 1080p or shooting footage to be delivered straight after the shoot in MP4 whereupon the client can use it immediately then the C200 with its excellent AF is fantastic. Also if ur doing a shoot and want to display a pro looking camera that’s different to the photographer then this looks the part. I’ve stopped using C200 at weddings though but bring it along as a backup. The audio capability of this camera is immense and when audio is a priority grab it and rest assured. This is often an overlooked consideration. RAW is fantastic for B Roll footage but noisy above iso 200 in low light situations so avoid the camera if ur often shooting like this.

I think as it’s always been with the C200, if you’re using the camera at either end of the scale it’s an incredible camera, it’s short comings is it has never fitted in the middle bulk of most work. A 10 bit codec would have made this camera more than good for 90% of shoots for many years to come.

@@JonathanPalfrey Facts 👍🏾 Like the C100 MKII, that 8 bit is it’s greatest weakness on top of a poor autofocus. The C70 is still being supported by Canon with new firmware updates.

In what order do you use your Cannon, Sony and Blackmagic cameras in your professional work? Which do you use for which type of work?

It's sort of split into two kits. C70 and pocket 6k pro for resort shoots, lots of gimbal interiors, bright outdoor spaces etc. 6k pro for the wides as it's shaper and the C70 for people and detail shots. Then the Sony kit mostly for our corporate work as the smaller size, better autofocus and sharper image is a bigger advantage. If I could only have one kit I'd probably lean towards the sonys.

That’s great info! Thanks Jeffrey. I know you do mostly gear reviews, but I’d love to see a BTS if both your corporate work and your resort shoots. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a ‘resort’ shoot.

Do you know if the c100 mark ii or the c200 would work well as a B Cam to the C70? I was tempted by the R7 but with over heating reported it’s a no go.

They both can however the limitations of 8-bit might be a challenge in certain situations. Sadly Canon don’t have a great b-cam option for the C70 other than another C70. We actually use a Pocket6K pro as our b-camera. Blackmagic and canon colours are actually pretty close and the extra resolution and sharpness of the 6k pro can be handy.

Canon, please release a c200 mk II. The c200 seems so crippled with only 8-bit or 12-bit raw, a 10-bit 4-2-2 is definitely needed. Also, exposing the c200 seems overly complicated with issues with luts, clog2, not being able to monitor in clog3 etc. Canon comon!

Currently there isn't a mark ii and now the C70 has raw I can't see there ever being one.

If you can’t controll your lighting down to 3 stops....what are you doing behind a camera.!?...sorry about that,i’m still from a film era... thats all the room we had back then .

That’s great and how you should do it if you have the option to control the environment and bring the appropriate amount of lighting to make that work. Sadly not the case for 90% of the work I do.

Probably can pick up a second hand C200 even less if that's the case! Great deal if you don't mind the huge raw files. personally I'd pick up a Blackmgaic 6K Pro instead for that price.
