Yes that donor board does come in handy for a lot of things.

Definitely. I have a whole box of "donor boards" ... able to salvage many components that are not easily available or that have become unobtainium over time.

Yes, red light is on the whole time while it is charging. When charging is complete, the light should turn green and remain green until the battery is removed.

HI. I have a NB-2LH Canon charger. I've opened it to see if I could do a simple fix. Not a chance. Unlike this unit you've sorted out, mine has to wires from the board to the outlet socket. One of the wires was burned out of its placement it seems. Unable to find diagram assistance on the net I wonder if you could tell me where that wire should connect so that I can solder it back on? If you have a contact email I can send images to ? Hope you can help

What size driver head are you using on those two fixing screws? I have nothing that small and will need to get one just to open the charger.
@TechBench Жыл бұрын
A 2.5mm Phillips head should work just fine (that's about 1/16th in yanky doodle units).

@@TechBench Thanks a mill for answering, my charger seems to have a tiny Torx or hexagonal head screw, so small its hard to see which, a Phillips head would be much better. - I'm on the European side of the pond, so metric is all good with me. Thanks again.

Can i just replace all this circuit with a TP4056 module and ignore the middle pin?
@TechBench4 ай бұрын
Yes, I am sure you can. At the end of the day, you just want 8.4V to the battery, with accurate cut-off when fully charged. The battery will do its own balancing between its two cells.

My LC-E17E gets quite warm and has an electronic smell, I guess the efficiency is bad, quite disappointing.
@TechBench Жыл бұрын
Indeed ... and those chargers are quite pricey!

On what we have to set multimeter

Oh, it depends on what you are measuring. For the initial tests, I checked AC so I semt my DMM to ACV. Next I set it to DCV when I was measuring after the bridge rectifier. After that I removed power and then measured in Diode mode to find the shorted component.
