Hey Izzy H! 👋 Thank you! With shooting real estate you run into 2 problems: 1, a wide enough lens for interiors and 2, lighting. The 24mm will work for large rooms, the exterior and close ups (features / creative shots) but you'll run into issues with smaller rooms like kitchen, bathrooms, closets, entrance way, etc... Since you're just starting out I'd recommend the ef-s 10-18mm and an led light panel. You just have to be careful with the distortion on this lens. Objects on the edges of the frame will be exaggerated or stretched the closer they get to the camera. So be careful how you frame your shot. You can use a tripod and the camera's shutter delay to get a clean shot in low lighting situations with the led light. Hope this helps!

Hey Starej Fotr 👋. I promise, the focal length of the ef-s 24mm is the same as a 38.4mm on a full frame camera. You still have to account for the crop factor. It's the same with micro four third's or medium format lenses too. All lenses focal length designation is based off full frame (35mm) measurements. If you want a true 24mm focal length on a Canon apsc, you'll need to use a 15mm lens. It doesn't matter if it's an ef-s or ef lens. If you search for this lens on bhphoto.com and look at the overview tab, it will list the focal length equivalent. 38.4mm. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

Hey Christopher! Yes, with a gimbal you should be fine. Not having image stabilization is one of the drawbacks for this lens in regards to video. The only other issue is its not really wide enough to vlog with. It's too close when hand holding at arms length, but for everything else it's great. What are you planning to record?

@@iamToddNorris Hey thanks for the quick reply! Not really looking to vlog (at least at this point), so no issue there. Maybe I'll get into that more once I make the leap to a full frame system. As a working musician in the Northern VA/DC area, I perform with several different bands, and have many relationships within the local music scene. That said, my current goal is to get my lowly Canon Rebel t5i dialed in best as possible to shoot concert photography and video, mostly run and gun, but also including some wider angle tripod stuff as well. I recently picked up the 50mm 1.8 STM (thinking it would be better for low light situations), but found it to be way too zoomed in given the 1.6x crop factor on the APS-C (80mm equivalent). And the servo autofocus while shooting video was terrible...hunting, hunting, hunting... I documented a concert held in a small/medium-ish sized auditorium, and even from the back of the room I was unable to get the entire band on stage in frame. Given that experience, I think the 24mm (38mm equivalent) would have been a much better lens for the full band shots. I also enjoy random street photography, do some occasional food photography for my clients, and of course lots of candid shots of the family and kids. The other lens I'm considering adding for the t5i is the 10-18mm, to possibly get started shooting some real estate. Sorry for the long-winded follow-up!

@@topherderry no problem man and you're right, the 24mm is going to give you a better field of view. The ef-s 10-18mm gives you an even wider field of view and image stabilization but it's not good in low light situations because of it's aperture range. You'd have to crank up your iso and your footage would get grainy. If you use a tripod or a gimbal with the 24mm you should be good to go. Thanks for the post. 👍

Hey EzMeck! The 24mm is sharper but if you have the room, the 50mm is going to look more professional because you can blur the background more. Just remember the 50mm isn't sharp at f1.8. You have to step it down to 2.2 - 2.8. If it was me, I'd get both so all my shots didn't look the same. Thanks for comment. 👍

Hey! No, it will not fit. The ef-s lenses have an extra little tab that keeps them from fitting on full frame.

Hey Mordavia 👋! It depends on what you're doing with it. The 24mm is wider, sharper and the focus is faster and quiet. The 50mm blurs the background better and does better in low light. If I had to choose just one for general photography and video, I'd choose the 24mm because it's wider and allows me to get more in the frame. If I was doing portraits or talking photos of people, I'd go with the 50mm. Hope this answers your question.

Hey Mike 👋! It depends on how much room you have and how many people you want to get into the frame. To shoot myself, waist up, I have to place the camera almost 5 feet away from me. If you have the room, you should be fine.

Hey santosh! Yes the 24mm is sharper but it depends on how many people are in the group and how much room you have. The 18mm is wider but if you have the room to move back from the group the 24mm will work. Just remember the 24mm doesn't have image stabilization so you'll need to increase your shutter speed or use a tripod. Hope this helps. 👍

Hey Danny 👋! It depends on what your doing and which kit lens. For photos this lens is better. It's sharper and brighter, you just loose zoom capability and have to use your feet to get closer or further away. For video it's too tight for vlogging and doesn't have image stabilization. For b-roll it's great if you have a gimbal. It'll work for talking head videos on a tripod if you use a lav mic and have a big enough room. You have to be a pretty good ways from the camera to get your head and shoulders in the frame and that means a shotgun mic wouldn't work. It just depends on what you're going to shoot.
