The Ninja
The Ninja is a recording and monitoring system for smaller projects requiring a reliable and easy to use package. It's not cheap at around £1800, but it is excellent. The lens with Canon EOS R mounted is a 24-70mm f/4 and I think it works really well, the cropping is perfect for my short films. This is the thing I love the most about the EOS R, the flexibility, the incredible control, you can have a beautiful image, but at the same time, you can totally change your workflow and go ultra cinema. You can have such control when working on a digital movie. I think this is the most attractive thing of the new camera.

exactly! just cos it dropped doesnt mean you have to go buy it. the production company i trained under was using 7-9 year old cameras getting amazing production value with huge contracts!!

I upgraded from a Canon T7i to the EOS R and just last month I bought the R6 and honestly, I much rather prefer the EOS R than the R6. I think the 1080 60 ALLi in the EOS R is equivalent if not, better than the 4K 60 IBP in the R6. I was thinking of selling one of my EOS Rs to get another R6 but when the R6 overheated on me at a wedding, I decided to keep both my EOS Rs for weddings, especially during ceremony. So, I went ahead and bought a ninja v and a camera rig to use on my EOS R for handheld shots and use it for most of the time during my wedding shoots.

I have two EOS-R, an R5, 90d, and Pro Sony Camcorder... they are in that order on multi-cam projects. R5 is cam 3. I like the EOS-R much better for a variety of reasons. Better camera doesn't necessarily mean better workflow.

I love my 2 x EOSR set up, mainly for live streaming with two angles in 1080p, but so close to pulling the trigger on a Ninja V especially as the AtomX Cast is shipping soon. Seems a no brained to level up the R for video work and have a mobile live streaming switcher as well

Hi 🙂 Thx for vids! If you dont mind, i would love your opinion on a few questions: Will the Cannon R8 be supported by Ninja V? If so, can it record the 10 bit 4k 60 ProRes to the ninja? Or is it limited in some odd way? Would you suggest the R over the R8? Would you suggest the R6ii over them all? Thx! J

I would say r6 IO will be the best camera out of the ones you mention but also the most expensive. Check the ninja website for canon r8 specs, they normally update with the camera compatibility pretty quickly

My friend very good video i just subscribe to your channel but 8 bit compare to 10 bit is a big difference, because thinking to but a r6 or just a monitor like blackmagic video assist, what do you think ?

Does this record in the atomos only in 4K? How about 10 bit 1080 and what frame rates?

The EOS R only does external 1080p at 8 bits, however, you do get 4:2:2 color and prores recording. You can record 1080p at 24 fps (24.00 fps mode), 30fps and 50/60fps. However, the EOS R always outputs 60fps in 30fps mode, but you can just change it to 30fps in your video editor. BTW, I have the Atomos Ninja Inferno... the Ninja V should be similar.

Great video, still intrigued by the EOSR, can I ask what lens are you shooting with to get around the crop? Do you have any footage?

For wide shots I use the rf 15-35mm 2.8 it’s pretty versatile. I don’t really notice the crop anymore I just compose the shot I need 🙏🙏 the EOS R is a great workhorse packed with loads of great features. I love it. I always say about cameras that the specs are great in theory but u need to use the camera to find out if it’s right for you

Great Video. Any input is much appreciated… I am new to the Atomos Ninja…. Does the EOS R 1080 go straight to 4K 60 on the Atomos Or only EOS R 4K 24 to Ninja V 4K 60? Thanks for any insight
