Nikon and Panasonic seem far more likely than Canon or Sony to give high end video features for a much better price. Heat crippled R5 aside. They were way earlier in implementing prores raw/braw via HDMI out ext. As they get their products focus, resolution and video quality to increase, they might raise prices...but at this price point, the image quality, focus, resolution and codecs favour Nikon and Panasonic. IMO. Great, well researched and fair review. Comparing the camera on video capabilities alone was quite nice. Thanks.

Panasonic also has a professional video camera division or not? If they have, I think they will have to protect it a little bit.

@@danielvilliers612 Even with a pro video division, gotta love how Panasonic leads the way with meaningful updates and cutting edge video features that prosumer and pro users love having...and all for a very good price. Goodbye Canon and Sony!

great comparison! you should make a video configuring the z9 video autofocus, there aren't many and it would be a great help

The nikon will come out with a firmware update with 8k 60p raw internal. I also heard that it will have further Assist tools. Another thing to take into consideration is continuous shooting time between the two.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that firmware. DJI also promised internal RAW with their Ronin 4D, but removed it because internal compressed RAW violates Red’s patent. Only Red and Canon are legally allowed to use internal compressed RAW.

@@angryrabbitproductions1690 well, you couldn't be more wrong. Nikon is releasing that amazing firmware update tomorrow (April 20, 2022) along with many major features beside proves raw internally.

I choose r3, although these two cameras are currently at a premium in China, but for my use, I choose R3 for the following reasons: 1. I need a camera with high sensitivity and high speed 2. Although Canon's lens is not as much as Nikon's, its practicality and the ratio of high, medium and low end in the market are more reasonable 3. I am more used to Canon's system, which is very convenient to operate. 4. The situation I tested is that the R3 is better than the Z9 in terms of focusing performance. Especially on dark nights.

我选r3,虽然这两个相机目前在中国都处于溢价的状态，但对于我使用上来说，我选择R3的理由如下： 1.我需要高感光度和高速度的相机 2.佳能的镜头虽然没有尼康的多，但是实用性和市场中高中低端的配比更合理 3.我更习惯佳能的系统，操作起来很方便。 4.我测试的情况是R3在追焦性能上比Z9好。尤其是黑暗的夜晚。

I bought the R3 because of raw already available + dci format and true 24fps and I had a deal for the same price as the nikon z9 if the z9 already had the raw + dci format and true 24fps, maybe I would have chosen nikon because the choice of lenses in Z mount are more interesting. but no matter the two cameras are the best hybrids for video today, they are near to cinema cameras in tools and codec, and no one will be disappointed with either one.

as far as i know R3 has 8 stops IBIS power, it is the strongest IBIS paired with RF lens, but not so much about IBIS in the z9 , to be fair, it is not a tie in stabilization

The Canon… Check my channel. I have tons of footage from the R3. It even compares favorably against my Red. Also, only one shoots internal compressed Raw. The Nikon shoots internal compressed “promises”… it remains to be seen if the promised firmware will ever be delivered. DJI also promised internal Raw… but had to remove it because it violated Red’s patent which covers ALL internal compressed Raw… regardless of algorithm. Lastly, resolution is more of a problem than blessing with video. Too much resolution is usually unflattering. This will send you down the rabbit hole of buying filter, cinema lenses and vintage glass and adding grain in post to soften the image. The Arri Alexa Mini LF has a 10MP sensor for a reason;-)

I'v watched you didn't show video samples. Please make a separate video put both cameras in same condition. Try to do it on a person. Also compare face detection autofocus when camera moves forward and backward to the person. I am videographer and i mostly use my camera with gimbal. So my preference is good sticky Focus on human. Plus better 4k quality

Canon can't win for being lighter.. someone wanting a bigger camera gets what they want 🤷🏿‍♂️ Canon win AF because you shoot Canon.. stop.. Nikon has all the f Mount glass

Thank you for your comment. We appreciate your opinion. Watch our full review of the Z9 if you want more details on the AF function. Chris is a veteran camera reviewer having experience in ALL of the mirrorless/DSLR/Cinema cameras released over the last 7 years. If getting the AF to function best for video was difficult for him to figure out without help, likely the greater population would struggle as much or more.

and it cant be a tie in stabilization, canon can stabilize up to 8 stops, one of the strongest unlike nikon

@@mbismbismb sorry but several other reliable sources have the Z9 COLOR DEPTH and DYNAMIC RANGE over both R3/A1 Same as the D850 and Z7ii I'll go with those sources btw: I have watched. I actually run test on many systems myself. But hating. But just buy trying to hold a bias either. Let's keep it honest
