This review helped me replace a toner cartridge for my MF247dw. However, I was having trouble lifting the panel to get to the cartridge and discovered my machine was too close to the wall to allow the very top to be fully engaged up to allow the next panel to be raised and it solved my problem. A little trick I learned. When the cartridge is low I get more printing out of it by shaking it a few times. I do it at least three time throughout printing.

(0:35) -- Man when your video first started, I noticed the unit appeared to be really large. I was like, "my lord, I won't have enough room for anything so large in my home office. Then you stood up (lol) and that "really big unit" didn't seem so bad after-all.

I also thought it was wireless! I am still keeping it because I live in a rural area with spotty wifi and the USB option works well for me. There is no USB cord in the box, so be sure to order one. I kept getting an error message about the toner cartridge/paper jam when I set it up. There is another orange plastic frame that needs to come out near the print cartridge. It works well and I will keep it! It is now $160.07 on Amazon. They were out went I went to order it so I purchased it from Best Buy. Thanks for the help!

Hi I do not know if you did that but if you want connect the ethernet cable from the printer to your router then the printer will be available on your hetwork so a laptop wifi connected to the network be able to print wirlessly ... and on an cellphone or tablet there is a canon app that you may installed and you be able to print to

236N where N stands for No Network. Should be 236S for Sneakernet. I too, purchased it thinking wireless. I am putting mine together. I hope and pray it works :) Your video is very helpful, thanks.

My problem with the printer is that I cannot leave the printer while printing. If I print more than a few pages it creates a paper jam because it doesn't shoot out the paper far enough to stack. I stand next to the printer and take out every page as it prints. Unfortunately, for me it is time-consuming. I print anywhere from 30 - 150 pages at a time.

you can print wirelessly if this printer is directly connected into internet modem or in my case an access point.

So what the physical connector and connection look like? I have inkjet wifi. I send print info from my smart tablet, which goes to modem, which sends the print files to printer by usb connection. Is this the same?

The toner does not work for DIY magazine print toner transfers, should you have looked for a cheap DIY for circuit boards... I also get the feeling that they made this thing "overly cheep" intentionally handicapped, larger documents stop printing on the third page or so, and then starts printing the first page again.

HI...thanks for the demonstration...too bad about wifi...fortunately I am ok with plugging in to the ethernet. Question...2 back hinges: when I open to the glass to put in a document one hinge on the right side is solid and has a plastic piece under the hing. The other hing on the left...is mobile...it lifts up and down. Does yours do this. I almost thought the hinge was broken but it may be this way (flexibly moving up and down) for some reason...What say you????

Did you seriously think they meant wireless as in it runs off battery? They meant wireless as in you can print wirelessly via computer or mobile device.

it has no wireless radio. In other words, not only does it not support wireless networking, but it also lacks support for Wi-Fi Direct and near-field communication (NFC). Since its only two connection options are Ethernet and connecting directly to a PC via USB, several mobile options that require Wi-Fi aren't available. Even so, you still get Google Cloud Print, Apple AirPrint, Mopria Print Services, and Canon Print Business for scanning to and printing from various locations via Ethernet. (This printer completely garbage)

yeah, I made same mistake, thought I would "figure out" how to get it to work wirelessly, huge, huge mistake...long long story but save yourself the trouble and SEND IT BACK and get the wifi one!

@@crys161 mf236n image class. After calling canons customer service I got it working wirelessly. I had to plug in ethernet cord into my deco mesh system (access point) and they walked me through the rest of the set up process. it was frustrating trying to figure it out on my own but Canons customer service was excellent at helping me and it works great now. Its next to impossible to find customer service like theirs these days and it is a great printer...once you figure it out :) so I will buy Cannon the next time around too.

I'm fucking PISSED!!! I just ordered this SAME printer and it's not wifi. I had NO IDEA why the option to setup wirelessly didn't show up. The description specifically said wireless or I would have NEVER ordered it. Thank you for the video. I see you cut the video off where the network settings don't say wireless. I hate this printer. I'm pissed the hell off.
