I bought a C70 last week. It is incredible and I see no reason to wait and buy “the next big thing”. Cameras do not make you a better artist, but everyone seems to think they do.

Great video. I just stand at distance and admire this camera. It has a lot. Built in ND filters, easy to operate, audio input, doesn’t need much to keep working like Red Komodo. But, I will work and keep saving.

Thank you for sharing. I see a baseless hunt for equipment that is not needed. I think the best thing is the person behind the camera and that you know it well. I myself have an R5C which I am happy with because I also need to be able to shoot pictures. I do Motion Graphics and VFX, so in most cases my camera is not used. I have also shot on the Sony FX6 and there are many good things about it when it comes to focus on speed and operation in recordings and quick changes. But most of what I do is slow and precise and thoroughly planned. There I love that I actually have 8K and the option to shoot 45mb of the scene. I think if I were a wedding photographer or did a lot of documentary I would choose Sony. But for film I'm more towards Canon or RED.

I'm shooting with the Sony FX30 at the moment. It is a great camera. But, I am still looking at the C70 as a possible choice for my next cinema camera. I've watched a few reviews of the C70 in the past few days out of curiosity, and it still holds up in my view. I'm not ready to get anything new at the moment. But, the C70 is still at the top of the list along side a few others.

Honestly, you should look into the Lumix brand if you want to try something new. The Lumix S5IIX has honestly been such a great camera. Im really just waiting for the follow up of the S1H, the Mark II is going to be amazing.

Canon made like $30 billion last year so I doubt they are close to dead.

It's crazy, every time I think, Well, maybe I can sell my C70 and get something new then I shoot with it for a bit and convince myself that this is an amazing camera. The image quality is superb, with a crazy amount of dynamic range. Why would I get something else instead?

Got two C70´s an R5C and a R3.. the C70 is a workhorse! its crazy good.. its the new C200 kind of camera.. people will keep using and buying it in a long time forward I believe. XLR, Build in ND, "full frame" ish - with the speedbooster, ready to shoot out of the box, fast boot up time, good for gimbals, RAW, XF-AVC, LongGOP, SD cards... Timecode in, long battery life.. its really good. People need to understand that Canon earn their money on printers for big companies :P not cinema. in the camera department they earn most money from entry level cameras :) again not cinema. But im sure we will soon see the C500 mark 3 with full frame RF with build in NDs and a crop sensor C300 mark 4 with RF mount and a even better sensor.

I still stand by the statement that this is the best camera on the sub 5k market. - Built in NDs - Raw recording - Media flexibility - Batttery Life - Lens conversion - SDI outs Not much else you need

Its there any drawbacks on using an older lens like the Sigma 18-35? I'm still thinking if I buy it or not.

The sigma 18-35 is a fantastic lens. However if you get a speed booster with it like the . 71x that Canon makes, it will vignette at 18mm and is unusable in super 35 mode. The AF is a little slow and it's not image stabilized. If you want to use it with the c70 you will need to get the basic Canon adapter that has no glass in it. I used it with my GH5 for many many years.

I like my C70 and it's the perfect entry-level cinema camera if you're just starting out... That being said, I have made the decision to leave Canon and switch to Sony. This decision wasn't made because of KZfaq, if that was the case I would have switched a year and a half ago. I can no longer deny the hold that Sony has on the film industry, especially with the new Burano, Canon has no high-end offering like that with RF mount coming out any time soon. Luckily, I don't have a lot of Canon gear so it won't be a huge loss for me. But I'm just not super happy with the direction that Canon has been going in over the last few years. My needs are evolving as a corporate DP and videographer and Sony will allow me to grow even more. As a side note, I don't like Canon's mirrorless bodies and they don't have C-log 2 which is a must for me! I believe Sony will open more doors and opportunities when my clients ask what kind of cameras I shoot with.

I have 2 C70's. I love the image. I also run with a R5c. The RF lenses are the reason to stay with Canon. I have a bunch of them. The question people should ask most importantly should be, is there a better image from any other brand for the money. NO. Sorry but NO.
