You wont see Full Frame Sigma lenses anytime soon unfortunately. I would bet they won't be allowed until after Canon releases the 24L and 35L for RF mount.

Just for APS-C, of course, but I"m looking forward to the Sigma 10-18mm given Canon's lame version that seems so inadequate on my R7.

Unfortunately, as a Canon R8 user, these are not my lenses. Not that you can’t use them on a full-frame RF mount camera; you’ll just be shooting in crop mode. On my R8, that’s only about 9 megapixels. That’s okay for photos bound for viewing on Instagram and other social media platforms, but definitely not ideal for other stuff.

Good news for those of us with the APS-C cameras wanting bigger aperatures at a cost we can afford. The RF-S lineup is adequate, but the Sigma Contemporary series is quite good at a reasonable price.

I have both Canon or 3.party lenses for the EF mount, and use all of them also on RF mount with an adapter. So for me, the lack of 3.party RF lenses is not an issue. And to be honest, why buy 3.party lenses other than getting a lower price? If you buy a high end camera, like R5 and R3, you need those expensive lenses to get the best out of youre camera. And when it comes to Sigma, I dont use them at all. There have been AF issues with all of their lenses that I have tried out for the EF mount, so they are now banned from my camera collection. And we are talking about 5 different lenses, three primes and two zooms. Never had such problems with Canon or Tamron, so far.

Get the ef version and buy an adapters. It will work just as good.

If those are the only Sigma lenses for he RF mount in this year, that also means that there will not be a single full frame lens from Sigma for the RF mount this year. That's actually bad news for anyone who owns an R8 for example.

This was a win-win for Canon. Get all the press and good optics from allowing third party manufactures to make RF-S lenses that they didn't really care about while being able to keep making all the money on the FF lenses that they actually care about. I don't expect to see canon give that up any time soon

You should have mentioned up front that this is ONLY for APS-C cameras like the R7, R50, R10, etc….not for Canon’s full frame cameras. That may come later, or it may never come.

@@SamWolkoff seems like only sigma but they aren't much cheaper either. If companies like techart would do more autofocus adapters for vintage lenses that would help

The reason they didn’t let 3rd party lens manufacturers do Autofocus RF mount lenses is because of their patent on it, which expired this year

Don't get too happy. There is possibility that Sigma will do only apsc lenses and Canon will keep RF mount exclusively for they overpriced lenses.

@@mbismbismb Sony lenses are specifically made for Sony bodies. Just because it fits you shouldn’t use it. Just buy used Sony lenses if you can’t afford new.

Don't matter, until they give everyone third party options, budget lenses made out of cheap plastic don't impress me. Sigma is not that much cheaper either. I would not buy them. Besides who can afford them in this economy. Thanks Sleepy Joe, and con man Zelinsky and Netunyahu.
