Good review Aaron, I remember reviewing this camera when it first came out and I'm working on another retro review of it now, so it's interesting to hear what other people think about it - especially someone like yourself coming at it fresh. It was notable to me as a product for being one of the few with a L-branded lens, although some camcorders had them too.

Thank you! I appreciate the input from you. Your videos on Micro Four Thirds helped sell me on my switch to Olympus this past year. So it’s awesome that you checked out something of mine! I originally only bought this for the red ring because I found it so funny, but it definitely was a fun camera to use

@@kiwipics I've actually just finished my edit of the PowerShot Pro70 for publishing soon, and I mention at the end that the Pro1 is over-priced in the used market. I waited and bagged one recently for £25. That's more like it.

Get hold of a Kodak P880 from 2005, its my personal favourite of that era, I think you will be impressed, mini DSLR style, 24-140 equiv manual zoom, 8mp, great handling and great IQ

people are begging me to start doing more youtube videos i noticed this camera on amazon ..think i just might order one soon i know it will do the job Your review is very throw the lens is very nice i know the autojust is a bit slow but probably not bad over all

I purchased the my pro-1 new in 2004 and still use it today in 2021. The ergonomics is fantastic and lens iq justifies the L series badging. To get the most out of the images I prefer to shoot in raw. I post edit in LR and the images rivals my Canon dslrs. The auto focus speed and accuracy was improved with a firmware upgrade from Canon. I believe it's still available from Canons website. It makes the af much quicker and more fluid. There are a ton of features, one regarding saving a raw image on the fly which is amazing. This is an excellent walk around camera with dslr level quality and features.

Great video! I still have mine purchased in 2005 and it holds up well compared to my newer models.Never a problem with it and the build quality was first rate.I believe it used a Sony sensor.Everything is very slow compared to a more modern camera but for stills it works fine (as you said).My issues with it are electronic viewfinder washout with side lighting at times (must use the hood) and the confirmation focus rectangle color (green) is a little difficult to confirm.Funky but still a cool conversation piece 15 years later.Canon learned a lot when they developed this model and you can see many features are still used in their current cameras.

hi a friend gave me this camera canon power shot 1 and i just both a cf card adapter for sd card insead of spending money for a biger cf as i dont really need . i just wanted to see the photos . can you help me how to put on a good setting to get a good photo. please if you can tell me thank you

I didn’t do any video with it as I didn’t really see much reason given the age. But I really should have tried it. The video was filmed on an Eos M6

i was wondering if there is any way to modify the zoom or it's the type of camera that you must not modify anything and juste change for a recent one. A have one and i love it but if there is a way to have a better zoom i would like it.

Some third parties made adapters for this camera! But they’re quite uncommon. One brand I came up with was Raynox. You could search “Canon Powershot Pro1 Raynox” on google and look into them. Not sure if you’d be able to still get one but it’s worth a look if interested!

Thanks great video. The lens in 35mm wright, i want to by for a friend a Lens Cap Holder (Cover) but i dont know what exactly he needs. And the Lens Hood Protector is LH-DC10 wright?

The lens hood is indeed LH-DC10. Unfortunately the lens cap is pretty specially shaped and can be hard to track down! I’ll look and see if I can find you a part number when I get home!

Hello I am a beginner and I wanted to buy my first ever camera and I stumbled upon this video and I was wondering would it be good for a beginner and do you know any good camera for a beginner like me within a $50 price range? Thanks!

For a budget of 50 its tough to beat! Gonna be a challenge to use but if you learn on an older camera you wouldn’t have any trouble with a newer one later on! Id recommend this camera, as well as the Konica Minolta Dimage A2 or the Dimage A200. Whichever of the three that you can find in the best condition! Make sure they’re fully tested and working with a clean lens. And whatever you end up getting, I recommend a second battery as well. Good luck!

@@ForeverYoungAaron Hi sorry for asking but I had a few questions. I ordered this camera and I was first wondering how can I see all the pictures I took since there is no playback button. And I was also wondering how can I put the CF into the slot I've been trying for a while ( 2 hours) and I've been having panic attacks because I bought it used. When I was putting it into the slot it wasn't going in all the way and nothing is working. Am I suppose to press a button because the only one there is a tiny button and it's already pressed down. I'm sorry for the long paragraph I just love photography a lot and it's my first camera.thank you and have a great day.( also do you have another way I can contact you because I feel like youtube comments are just weird to ask a lot of questions)

@@favorbabson8666 be careful with the cf card as the pins can be fragile. But try flipping the card around backwards and sliding it in. The little button is supposed to be down because you press it to release the card! As for image reviewing, the same switch you use to turn on the camera, rotate it the other way for image review mode! Hope that helps

u need to boost your volume gain before you export the video, - super quiet can hardly hear anything u say

This was actually my first talking video I released! When I made it, I carefully balanced the audio level before exporting against 3 KZfaq vids at same volume and got it as close as possible to the same levels. Also just in case it was a recent issue, I just tested with my headphones and at full volume it’s way too loud for me. But I’ll do further testing before any future videos! Thanks!

@@ForeverYoungAaron FYI The sound levels were fine on my phone with earphones, and if anything my hearing isn't that great.
