Can you show us what portrait/background blur can look like on the M50. With the lens it comes with but more specifically with the 50mm f/1.8 lens if you have it.

My priority is Video 1080p....M50 or SL2 (200D) will be the best between the two ? and also which one gives better battery life ? is there a significant battery life difference between M50 & SL2 . Waiting for your reply . Thanks in Advance

I did an image quality comparison: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jquYprhexqu8YGg.html The battery life on the SL2 is better, especially for images. I pretty much always assume I'll need extra batteries if I plan on shooting video all day. There is no doubt Canon bodies ergonomics are menu system are very user friendly. Why Canon have stopped being innovators is shame. As they were industry leaders espesically video in camera body. Canon have strangled spec and features for the price. I believe Sony A6300, A6500 or fujiflim other better specs in a not so ergonomic bodies. The next issue I have with the M50 is the ego range of M mount lense. Now Canon have EF, M and now R mount lenses. This makes it very expensive to upgrade camera M body to either EF or R mount Canon body.

Super good questions. I don't know why they stopped, but I do know they are paying the price for it. The R mount makes sense if they wanted to upgrade the EF mount which has been around for so many years. But we also have the EF-S mount. So now, EF, EF-S, EF-M and R...sheesh. I end up getting adapters and using the same lenses for all different bodies. The Fuji XT-3 is my favorite camera of 2018.

Great video!! I have both an 80d and a g7x mark ii, and I just got this m50 today as it’s a good in-between in terms of size and functionality (also my biggest green flag: it allows external mics!). Thanks for being so informative in answering every single question!

Thanks so much Erica. Looks like the M50 will round out your gear. You have the workhorse (80d), super compact (g7xmkii) and now a perfect middle ground with the M50. I'm glad the videos are helpful. I try to help as much as possible :)

Hello I’m new in all this and I just recently purchased my Canon M50 I won’t be blogging my videos will be more for home cooking recipes desserts etc... but I’m having trouble finding the right app to edit my videos, I just want to edit them with good quality good intros and I want to be able to add my watermark in my videos!! Can you please help me by telling me which apps are the best to edit free and bought ones please ? Thank you

hope you can help. I just purchased this camera as a fellow you tuber. My question. half the time I use this it will be mounted on a full size tripod. I want to be able to quick release the camera off the tripod. And the plate that attaches to the camera I dont want it to block the battery flap becase Im constantly juggling batteries (dont want to uncrew it constantly), I want that plate to be on there all the time even when Im not using the tripod and I want to be able to set the camera down somewhere without is toppling over because of some funky adapter plate.. Is there a solution for this. Maybe some sort of adapter plate extention system or a rig? Thank you great channel.

Hi there. It would depend on the lens that you're using and the tripod. What I do is add a cage for the M50 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gauDndmUmeCYnnU.html ) and then I can actually attach the case to the tripod with no QR plate (because I use arca swiss). With a big lens, the camera will always tip forward unless I add a long quick release plate or a counter weight. Hope that makes sense.

I normally don't, because a 30" exposure is enough for me. But, in shutter speed, go all the way to the end. (after 30")

Yes, it's a good lens for indoor use because it opens up to f/1.4!!

Thank you. The macro lens that I use is the Canon L-series 100mm f/2.8. If you want an ef-m lens instead, there is a 28mm f/3.5 macro

Bought the M50. Have to say it is horrible with the “out of the box” automatic settings. However, if you take some time to adjust the settings manually, it is brilliant. I love it now and it is producing some great results. As I learn more about it, and have worked on my lighting, my videos are really improving.
