No, the Sony HX99 does not have a one-inch sensor. It has a typical 1/2.3 sensor.

I liked your review of this camera, but I have a question. When I connect it in OBS via cable and capture to use it as a webcam, there is a box in the middle that bothers me that pops up when detecting a person's face. So far I can't seem to get rid of that focus frame. I don't think it is eliminating the information, since I eliminate the information and the screen looks clean but when a face appears in the middle of the shot the frame appears, any solution with your experience?

Try to change from video to photo mode. This should remove the focus square.

Try to disable the Conitunes AF (auto focus): Click Menu Button -> Auto Focus (scroll through pages horizontally with D pad until you find it) -> Choose disable.

Thanks so much! I have this camera, and used the capture card and hdmi cord to use it as a webcam. However, the lens and camera black out after about 1 minute when recording. Do you know how to solve this?

The only explanation I can think of is that you have the battery saver on, and the camera turns the display off to save battery. Here's an article on how to enable or disable power mode. There's an option called eco mode. Perhaps you want to test with on and off to see if it foxes your issue. For reference, I never had this issue, so it should be fixed in the settings if it's not a hardware issue. support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART177600

I'm looking at this camera, sony hx99, and Panasonic lx10. Any thoughts? I want a camera that takes good/sharp portrait photos for a family trip so fast shutter and quick af is important. Price is the other factor. Thanks for the review!

I regret selling it, far better image and video quality than the Canon, I haven't tested the Lumix, but I heard great things about it. The only thing that Canon has on both, is zoom. Thanks for watching

It can be charged using any decent quality "micro USB cable." One of the downsides of this camera is that it can not be charged and used at the same time, and the battery charges slow. Yes, you can charge the battery while in the camera using the micro USB port. There are two more options to charge, get a docking station with batteries, available on Amazon.com (link below), or get a coupler for infinite battery time. The battery door has a small rubber door that can be moved to allow the wire of the coupler to pass through while the door is closed (link also below). You would think that it would be nice, but the truth is, its no different than any other webcam. Logitech Brio 4k, had a similar image quality, easy to connect, IR camera for face ublock, only one cable required so less clutter and it only costs 150 USD. Not worth using as a webcam imo.

Hey Jude, unforetently, the pause recording option is not available on this type of camera. This is to prevent the camera from overheating. The camera can still warm up even when it pauses while recording.

No, concerts are generally a low light environment, so you will not get the sharpest photos. However, if its for zoom purposes, it will do ok.

No, I tried it, but it doesn't work. Even via Bluetooth, it's not designed for any type of external mics.
