For cleaning Canon print heads with round ink ports we demonstrate our cleaning kit. It comes with the nozzle cleaner fluid plus tube adapters for flushing the print head from the ink ports through the nozzles in the nozzle plate.

I just cleaned all ink colors with an Canon cleaning kit. When I run the printer, all I get is wet paper and no ink appears on the paper.
A:
After the cleaning there is still some cleaning fluid remaining in the print head, that is whay You get wet paper when printing after cleaning. It is the best way to print out this remaining nozzle cleaner - please use old paper to do these test prints. According to Your printer model it may take many print to get out the cleaner, but this way the waste ink pad in Your printer is not polluted unneccessarily.

I have just finished cleaning the BK print jet of my Canon Pixma MG 5350 and its been a spectacular success! It was very fiddly to connect the the supplied tube to the ink port because it seemed too small/narrow but I managed to stretch the plastic enough with hot water and by inserting some fine nose pliers into the tube and opening the pliers. Anyway, thank you to Octopus, great product and instructions!

To my huge surprise and delight, this kit actually worked on a Canon Pixma MP560. The thick black print jet was completely clogged, which is a problem if you want to print a text document! And my - perfectly functioning - iMac is so old that it's no longer compatible with any new printers sold today, so repairing my old printer was the only option. I had to try all three steps before the clog shifted, in fact I ended up leaving the entire printhead sitting in a bath of cleaning liquid overnight, then did the syringe option the following morning: result, perfect printing. The more expensive alternatives would have been buying a new printhead for at least 45 euros, or getting it professionally 'repaired' for at least 80. So this was a great deal, and now I have enough cleaner fluid left over for another treatment if the same thing happens again. I might actually just give it a preventative clean once a year from now on.

Good video. Looks like your solution is better than Canon’s. I have a Pixma TS9120 that worked great, but I don’t use it often and as a result all of the color nozzles clogged. I was surprised there was so little support on Canon’s website. I tried soaking the head in alcohol, which helped a tiny bit, but not enough. I bought an Epson

Hello Mark, thanks for Your feedback and input. Alcohol does not do a good job when using it to clean a print head that works with water based inks. Your Canon printer is using such inks. Therefore a water based cleaner liquid can dissolve dried in inks properly. By the way the Epson desktop machines also use water based inks. And for both inkjet printers there is the saying : not using them regularely is killing them....

@@octopusoffice , Sounds like you know what you are talking about. Just out of frustration I removed the print head one more time and rinsed it in hot water several times and let it soak. Rinsed it in hot water again and then let it dry. No improvement. I bought new cartridges this week and according to the display on the printer, the cartridges are already empty. 🤬 those cartridges never printed anything. Genuine Canon cartridges

@@markw208 Hello Mark, thanks for Your feedback - we are no secret CANON agent trying to trick You back to investing in new original printer cartridges - we are not happy about that outcome with the new material. The story about the cleaning liquid is not over yet: a water based cleaner for print heads should be made by using demineralised, purified water - this is almost free of minerals. Tab water or destilled water still contains minerals. there is the risk that these minerals react with residual ink components inside the print head and create another bocking instead making the ink system free. BUT in Your situation there seems something different causing the issue with empty from the beginning CANON cartridges. With this original material You should have the opportunity to use them for printing despite their empty status. With original Canon cartridges You can deactivate the ink level status and keep on printing - You need to make sure that there is ink available in these cartridges.

I have qy6-0083 and set of your Octopus toners. After several cleanings (through menu, cleaning and also deep cleaning) I still don't get magenta at all, also BK not showing and PGBK is terrible. I first tried cleaning with some wife's window cleaning liquid, didn;t help. Then I tried hot water, also no help, now trying other cleaning liquid, it looks like magenta finally liquid goes through and also it looks like PGBK lets more liquid go through. But BK is still locked....I have seen steam method using caffe machine, but I like this method on the video. I will order if all my methods fail. Thanks

Hello Martin, thanks for Your explanation. So You mean You working with our refill inks made by Octopus Fluids®, right? The window cleaner is a good approach but depending on the ingredients it also may cause blockings - this we cannot judge from the distance. But when You have nozzles that the cleaner goes through but they are not working when printing - this indicates that these nozzles might not work properly anymore - meaning that the electronoics are not able to communicate with them anymore.

Yes, I have ordered at the end of 2020 your refill inks :) And on Friday I ordered cleaning set so lets see....if that won't help, I will order new printing head...:( After heavy cleaning PGBK looks much better, and also Magenta showed up, but with another cleaning (software method through printer), Magenta again dissapeared. BK not shown at all although water and window cleaner went through while cleaning....so I think cleaning set is the only viable option before I throw this printer head through window :) Thanks!

@@khaliliouf heavy washing as I described above helped. But some says that water shouldn't be used due to calc. I think for emergency cleaning hot water is ok. Also, after a week Magenta finally showed up and even a bit of BK. I got package (cleaning set) from Octopus this week but didnt have time to clean. But i will do it in upcomming days.

have a canon pixma pro 9000 mk11 and cannot fit the plastic tube on even after removing the rubber parts. I have been trying for about an hr. Going to give up and soak the whole thing

Thank You very much for Your description. We are sorry that we have not pointed out clearly enough to check on the printer if our suggested cleaning method can be applied to that specific printer model. When You are able to take out the print head from Your printer You can set it into a flat bowl and apply the cleaner in there by placing the nozzle plate into cleaning fluid and dripping cleaner onto the ink inlet from above.

Should water be put through the print head after the cleaning fluid in order to remove traces of it? If not should the print head just go straight back in the printer?

Hello + thanks for Your question. Actually the cleaner fluid is a colorless ink - so You can simply print it out - that saves the printers waste ink compartment. Use old paper to run these test prints - it may take quite a number of test print pages to get the colors back to normal. When setting the print head back intot the printer make sure that there is no air inside the print head - better flush with cleaner right before setting the head back into the printer and starting the test prints. When You have it available You can also flush the print head with printer ink from bottles...

Thanks for Your feedback. We are sorry to read that the PGI slot seems to be damaged permanently. Does no cleaner at all go through this ink port? Or does the print result remain bad quality for this ink line?

I bought the Octopus cleaning kit and carried out this routine on the print head of my Canon S9000 printer. I reinstalled the print head into the printer and I now get the orange light flashing 7 times, indicating that the print head is defective. I was careful to mask the electrical contacts so they dont get wet. Is it an electrical fault ? Can you advise what went wrong ?

Hello Niall, thanks for Your question. We are sorry that You experience difficulties when applying our approach on Your printer. From reading Your description we assume that the masking may have caused a problem. We strongly recommend to avoid contact to the elctrical contacts on the print head - they are very sensitive components. The masking might have shortcutted something on the board at the back. Please check if there are leftovers from the masking on the chip board - they can prevent that the contact can be made correctly between head and printer.

you most likely had tape residue on the gold contacts preventing electrical connection. its not a problem if these get wet a little just dry off with soft cloth before install.

Thanks for Your question. First You have to remove all the cartridges from the printer. Then You lift up the lever that goes around the cartridge compartment. You grab it at the front and then pull it upwards. When the lever is up You can take out the print head part from the cartridge compartment.

Can someone use a ultrasonic cleaner? Is it safe?

Thank You very much for Your question. We do not really recommend to use a ultrasonic dvice for cleaning a thermal Canon print head. There is always the danger that the ultrasonic cleaning does some damage to the tiny structures inside the print head. Ultrasonic approach should be the last step if everything else fails.

Hello Althu, our cleaner is a colorless ink formula based on purified + demineralized water. We also use specific surfacants in our cleaner. When cleaning waterbased inks You need to have a cleaner that is waterbased too.

@@sylepat4451 Il existe plusieurs causes possibles de cette erreur. La tête d'impression elle-même est cassée ou la carte de l'imprimante présente une erreur. Dans ce dernier cas, l’imprimante ne peut plus communiquer avec la tête d’impression.

all of these cleaning videos show no proof of cleaning working. only comments. ive ran warm water through mine 2wice and 2 flashes and still nothing. printer is 8 months old. and was brand new when bought it. originally i had a blockage and soaked the head in warm watwr overnight. this worked. then after that it printed flawlessly again. and after the next faded prints..... nothing works. ile try one last time to flash them. ile buy a new print head after that

Thanks for Your description. As You say that it worked for some time after soaking the head in water and then the prints got bad again: Are You using alternative cartridges? Maybe the ink in there does not really fit to Your printer an its cartridges. That might explain why the prints became bad again after cleaning. We recommend to change to new cartridges from a different supplier when the trouble as described by You occurs.

Thanks for Your feedback! Please make sure to use a material that does not damage the electronics and / or disolves the glue, that holds the nozzle plate on the print head compartment.
