Canon R10 review: 4K and fast shooting speeds under $1,000

Canon’s EOS R10 brings Sony-like AF skills to its “budget” APS-C camera. It also offers some nice features for a sub-$1,000 camera, like 4K 60p, 1080p 120p, a flip-out display, a built-in flash and very fast shooting speeds. However, the sensor isn’t stacked so it has slow shooting speeds that can produce rolling shutter, and the lack of backside illumination and in-body stabilization means it’s not the best camera in low light. Still, it’s ideal for casual users who are likely to buy it for vacations, kids sporting events and more thanks to the reliable AF.

• Not amazing in low light

Hi bro, Iam planning to buy an Canon R 10. I was buying for my personal usage, need to take cinematic portraits photo for my baby and travel usage so completely for my personal usage. I saw the Canon R10 with kit lens 18-150mm combo box. So please suggest this combo is suitable for me or i want to buy canon RF 50mm lens for cinematic portraits as you shown in this video. Iam confusing for choosing the lens, please suggest me the best lens for my usage brother?

Can we use canon rf 24-105mm f/4-7.1 is stm on canon r10. How good this combination can be. is this lens useful for r10....plz reply me

You can use any Canon RF lens with it, also you can adapt any Canon EF/EF-s lens with the adapter. I would recommend to go with the 18-150RF or the EF 18-135 with it, instead of the 24-105 is stm, because it has a pretty bad IQ on aps-c sensors

I am thinking of getting a camera, but the new RF lenses seem quite expensive compared to what you can get on other brands for example Sony, can anyone advise why one should get a Canon

EF to R adapter for only 100-150 USD allows you to use the entire EF lineup as you please. It's a native experience.

I would say reliability, sturdy build quality that lasts at least to me many Canon I've used and owned over the years tend to last longer compared to its rivals. my mom's Ixus point and shoot from 2005 still works and hold charge despite my abusive usage with it. Same with EOS 550D it still rock solid, works without problems really only needs to replace its battery. I got a used HDD Vixia camcorder from 2007 everything other than its battery works well. I don't have any experience with their newer models but Canon always been good to me since my time with their late film SLR days. Weirdly any other brands of camera would fall apart in record time in my hands through just normal use. I have Casio Panasonic and Sony all of them either already bit the dust or have nasty problem with its EVF broke LCD screen or faulty sensors and in the case of Casio cheap build quality and overheating.

Looks like the Panasonic GH6 was the better option for me for a few extra quids. Do not want that crop in my videos nor would you, and, it is not what people want on KZfaq. They want that full 4K60 quality along with great content to go with it.

You could get in excellent condition a used EOS R for that price. The problem is with the lenses. There needs to be more 3rd party support.

Reviewing this camera right now and can’t help but feel like consumers should just invest in the RP for the full frame opportunities and the larger lineup of lenses!

I have the RP and it’s too slow for me wildlife. I ordered an R10 body for birding and will use it with my RF 100-400mm. I’m keeping the RP, of course!

rp is the worst camera to recommend. unless you do only portrait photography.

@@malikharden5124 yah as i said portrait photo sure. not for anything else. rp has lower fps, lower video specs, no 4k 60 10bit, 30 minute record limit, etc. r10 better for video overall. r10 also better for sports and action photograhpy. better autofocus.

@@truthseeker6804 if you need 4K get the r10 if you need super high fps get the r10. Everything else id rather have the rp all day I’ve used a r10 on a wedding it’s not high iso friendly. And the r10 shows eyes in focus at a distance but at times they aren’t fully locked into focus which I hate. Rp all day

yes phones provide better "package" but if you already have a phone, theres no point in buying another phone, a camera would provide better result for its intended usage, photo and video. much better depth of field at different focal ranges, no fake bokeh with weird edges, more zoom range, better low light performance, raw photos etc.
