I'm glad that you compared these 2, it was nice to see the difference between them especially in video... Would like to see the same test with the Nikon Z30 if possible please (especially against the R10). P.S thanks for your videos by the way, appreciate the time you take to make them (especially the hour long setting one's, super helpful especially for us new to cameras) honestly thankful for them. P.P.S you're one of the only ones that come off unbiased. It's like this is the camera and this is what it does, this is how it works, these are the settings, do with as you may and get the best out of it. No push towards a certain brand.

Can you please try using both with 50mm f1.8... It prolly gonna make a big difference in Low light.

Hello, Jason. The video was so good. I'm a person who wants to enter the camera world. I'm currently considering 6400, zv-10e, eros10 and after watching this video, I'm relieved! If you calculate the percentage, I think it's about 4 times in picture 6. I'm currently considering 6400, zv-10e, eros10 and I can't get rid of my worries watching this video! Canon audio seems much better. The colors are odd in the transition - the Sony gets a little washed out in Auto; Canon has more realistic overall skin tones. Nice comparison Jay!

Hey Pete, the Canon audio is louder yes, but better sounding I'm not so sure about ;) Subjective for sure!! Just my opinion...

@@Jason_Hermann I think I've figured out that no in-camera audio is worth it. That's with an R5/GH6/A7 IV/ZV-1. Heck, I think the ZV-1 audio is probably the 'best' of all of them. 😀

Well the ZV-E10 has the tri capsule design sort of like the ZV1, so it does offer more dynamic range in the audio when using the on camera mic. So for on camera, the Sony should have a clear edge. With that being said, on camera mics clearly still suck compared to a real mic plugged into the mic jack :) And as far as internal pre-amps go, I have no clue yet which is better... It's nice to know what you get though out of the box from a total beginner point of view. That is where I was trying to come from for this video... Helping beginners figure out what is best for their particular needs. I'll catch up with you later and thanks again for the great comments Pete! Jay

If I am a beginner and don’t know anything about cameras but I want to buy one camera because of course they are expensive, witch of the 2 you will recommend. 🙏🏽😵‍💫 they will be for pictures only not videos on KZfaq

Excellent video just wish you included the Z30 I'm looking at all 3 which do you recommend I mainly record video indoors with good lights I record products the thing that puts me of Sony is it's not as easy to use however the other two don't have good lens at the moment I'm using an M50 at the moment I just want good quality video any advice please

I have the Z30, but have not used it yet, because I really wanted to concentrate on one camera at a time. I hear ya though and will show a comparison with the R10 and ZV-E10 prolly next week ;) Sony has a huge advantage when it comes to lens options!! I have not used the Z30 yet, so I can't say as far as that camera goes just yet. The R10 is pretty awesome, but I still prefer the Sony A6400 and ZV-E10 for video in the studio. I feel like the Autofocus works more reliable overall when tracking my eye and face. The Canon R10 loses focus sometimes and after using for a few weeks, it's not as reliable as my Sony's. The Sony also allows you to shoot in S-Log2 8-bit which you can't do on the Canon R10 or Nikon Z30. That gives you more dynamic range and editing latitude for your videos. I use that in my studio and it's awesome! Also I am used to the Sony's and I have several lenses to chose form which makes me lean towards them. I really want to get the Sony A7 IV which is a 10-bit video camera and next level in image quality! With all that being said, these are all great cameras and you can't go wrong! Lens options though.....

Hello, There is not a lens available for both systems that is the same yet. Canon only has to two RF-S lenses total and I compared both of them using the R10 in this video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNyoaNaYncXSlGQ.html

Tuff call Evan! The Sony A6400 has the viewfinder and is basically a ZV-E10 as far as key hardware goes... Sony has a huge advantage on lens options and the High ISO does appear to be noticeable better as well. However, what you have not seen yet is how awesome the Canon is to use compared to the Sony. The menus are awesome, the ergonomics are great, touch screen is next level, the Q menu and Multi-function buttons are also fantastic for getting to key settings fast. I really like the way the Canon R10 works... Don't get me wrong, huge Sony fan obviously which is why I own them... Canon has really stepped up there game though for sure and this R10 is a great option, minus the current lens options... We just need way more lenses to choose from for the Canon RF-S in particular. Hopefully Canon will give Sigma the green light soon, so we can get the 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm f/1.4 lenses in RF-S!

which camera applies the most noise reduction. that's the summary of low light camera comparisons.

Well yes, but we also have Raw Photo Quality compared, max ISO of the camera, and how the camera performs at these higher ISO levels with Autofocus and metering the exposure for example. Canon was more aggressive , because the sensor is not as good at the Higher ISO levels which you can see in the raw photo examples that do not have noise reduction applied like the jpegs.... Even though they were very close, Sony still had a slight edge at the higher ISO levels in my opinion. All the best, Jay

Since you reside in New York, it would have been beneficial to see some outdoor comparison footage. Relying solely on indoor tests makes the evaluation seem incomplete.

I would say the Canon R10 for the viewfinder option in particular, but there are not than many EF-S lenses to chose from for the Canon unfortunately which is also a factor to consider...

Sony image had hotspot on your forehead, the canon seemed to provide a more usable exposure on your face

Yes, once the exposure adjusted the Canon looked slightly better and had more accurate skin tones when in full Auto I agree!

4:36 I'm not able to understand why Canon maxed the ISO at 12,000? It should've been at 32,000 right? Here Canon is not even able to capture anything, just black. Isn't this a clear win for zve10 in extreme lowlight?

Canon seems better with skin tone retention but the Sony seems better with autofocus. So…. Which will be better for videography between the 2? Can you pls advise?

I agree with your sediments as well, so the Sony is better for AF with humans, but the Canon has better Skin tones with Humans... I still prefer the Sony because of the incredible lens options and I don't only care about skin tones when it comes to color, so I would say Sony.

Hello, yeah if you only plan on using a kit lens then Canon would be a great option as I indicated in my previous response. The ZV-E10 is one of the best studio camera options for the money today in my opinion, because you don't need the viewfinder for inside a studio and the unbelievable amount of lenses to chose from. If the lenses mean nothing to you then that "lens access feature" does not matter. The R10, R50, and higher end R7 are really great options for sure!

Sony- adjust faster to light and can have more visibility of your surroundings Canon- has a better overall skin tone The Sony may be better for your everyday KZfaqr vlogger especially if you suck at post editing.

A better and more accurate comparison will be between Canon R10 and Sony A6400. Almost equally priced and almost similar specifications. From the surface it looks like we finally have the A6400 killer in the market. And it makes me very sad that only a couple of months ago I bought Sony A6400 and later on came to know about the R10. I'm dying from the inside and need some reassurance that I didn't make a bad call.

The ZV-E10 has the same sensor, so it would be the same test results...nThe Canon R10 is not a Sony a6400 killer? If anything it's a great alternative option, but has only two native RF-S lenses to chose from... Also, the autofocus is not as good as Sony in my opinion, but the color science and build quality/ ergonomics are a bit better.. The Video features are also better on the Sony A6400 if you want to shoot Slog in particular. Prince, all the latest cameras are great, so you can't go wrong these days... However Sony still has all the lenses to chose which is prolly one of the most important things to consider.

This is why I switched to Sony so many years ago ;) The sensor and the auto focus technology were way ahead for years and years... Canon is finally starting to catch up, but I have a feeling Sony is going to drop a new APS-C camera that will set a new standard in technology... Time will tell.... With all that being said, in the real world the Canon still did a fantastic job which is all that matters at the end of the day. All the best, Jay

The R7 offers a higher 33MP sensor that is 5-axis stabilized. It also has a higher resolution lcd screen, 2 UHS-II memory card slots, fast 1/8000sec max shutter, Headphone jack, faster USB 3.2 port, weather sealing, way better batter life, and physically larger camera body. It also offers 10-bit C-Log video which is the more professional format. I hope that helps, Jay
