Thanks for the comment. I would just change shooting modes or have another Custom Mode set up for that scenario. Or you could set up a Quick Menu in the green section of the Canon R series menu system to include Set Shutter Speed so that can be changed very quickly.

Well no not really. Firstly, i shoot JPEG and RAW. You'll find that almost all photographers working for an agency such as Getty, Associated Press or Wire Services will always shoot in JPEG and not RAW. If you're exposing correctly and setting accurate white balance then there is no need to shoot RAW. There is also a very limited amount of time when shooting live sports. The workflow is usually shoot (with correct exposure and white balance), transfer the file to laptop, write captions/descriptions, crop and straighten image, maybe some small colour correction if necessary then upload the file. That has to be within 1 minute of taking the photo otherwise the time has passed and the moment is not longer relevant for news feeds etc. After the match i would maybe go back and select the RAW files of the best photos for extra editing and treatment for my portfolio. 90% of the time for sports i shoot JPEG. For everything else i would shoot RAW and take time to process and edit the files. For sports there is not time for that. Also, there is way more to a $6000 camera than RAW.
