Biggest downside of st-e3 rt transmitter is a lack of infrared light assist :-( For example if you do night club photography and you have your 600rt inside small softbox on monopod you can't use it because is to dark to lock focus without assist light.

Canon radio transmitted flash is the best system on the market. Could be the reasoning behind sales. Architecture photography light the interiors and exteriors,shoot from outdoors. Work seamlessly together. Five groups, 15 slaves, some set ettl others set manual.All controlled from rear camera LCD. I shot interiors of a state building a corridor some slaves were over 350 feet away from camera and ste3 transmitter and worked perfect

I have a pair of 470 ex-ai flashes which I want to use off camera by remotely triggering them using a remote trigger. Which speedlite trigger is compatible with the 470 ex AI flash units? Is ST-E2 an infra red transmitter or an optical transmitter? Are the infra-red and optical transmitter same? Is ST-E2 compatible with the 470 ex AI flash units? Can I use ST-E2 transmitter mounted on my canon 5d mark iv to trigger the pair of 470 ex-ai?

Hello Arijit: The 470EX -AI can be controlled wirelessly, using the Canon ST-E2 wireless transmitter. The 470EX uses an optical system (light) for wireless communication instead of radio transmission. The optical system sends signals with using infrared light. can it do HSS while the flash is on the hot shoe ?

Hello: Yes, you can use High-speed Sync when the speedlite is mounted to the camera’s hotshoe. You can find details on page 25 of the speedlite manual. Here is a short cut: Canon.us/us5a. Does the 600EX-RT fit on the hot shoe of the Canon Rebel T5i?
