The Lone Peak does have a side ladder for the tent as an accessory. They are also one of the few who designed the bed in the tent to lift up into the overhead in order to maximize room in the bed of the truck when not in use.

Dirtbox Overland just released a camper. Should definitely check it out.

Good stuff. I also have been researching these for some time. I have a Gladiator also. See how many you can see in real life. Things I have found are the GFC and sone others have the screen on the inside. This means you have to expose the inside to bugs while you open the windows to roll them up. The camp king has a very short bed. Most units do not have much room to get up and down while others are in the bed sleeping. For these reasons and some of the ones you spoke of, my choice is the Lone Peak. The bed just lifts up. This gives you a big shelf with the bed up. When it is down, you still have 30 inches of room to move around and get up and down. The tent design also give you more elbow room. It has the vents like the Supper Pacific. Lots of t-rails inside and out for mounting. Really good truck mounts if you have rails or not. If you are tall, you will really like the longer bed platform in the Loan Peak. Also check out Overland Vesical Systems. They just came out with one. Another one out of Vegas, Dirt Box I think.

Brandon, love that you are 'diving deep' into the off-grid scene. The the shots of the June Colorado trip were especially cool to see. I might travel a bit heavy compared to what you are planning. I will say that being able to step down from the bed into a sheltered area at night or in inclimate weather is a very nice touch. When I looked at this vs. my Rooftop tent set-up, I just felt like I would lose too much storage space by having to leave the bulk of the area under the tent open for people to be able to move around in. Really looking forward to hearing your experience especially as to explore working remotely using the Starlink system.

I like my GFC on my Gladiator but I had some leaking issues but I believe this issue has been resolved by them already. The only thing I wish the gfc had was a bed that raised up on struts instead of being panels to move around. If you want to see what it looks like on a gladiator check out some of my videos. I am looking for a camper and have been leaning towards the Project M and the M1 but the price has been holding me back. In the end I decided to go with the Lone Peak as the price point and build quality fill my needs for both hunting and camping. Great Video!

Great video I love the spread sheet. I don't know where you found the info on increased vehicle height for all the campers but I am super grateful for that. Height and weight are two big factors for me as well. I was leaning heavily into the gfc also, but really dislike the aesthetics on the outside with the non black metal on the corners. I'm considering getting a Topo Topper Mesa to step it up from the hiking gear as well.

Good work on the comparison. While your tentative selection is not what I would have done, we all have different perspectives and needs which drive the ultimate decision. I've got a Super Pacific which I wouldn't trade for any of the others. Many reasons for me - door designs, single latches, construction quality, built in wire chases, t-slots and rivnuts all over.. Someone else mentioned it, but the protected vents up top are HUGE at preventing condensation issues. I just added the insulation package to it and it's super comfortable now in winter conditions also. Good luck and wish you the best with whatever you end up with.

Brandon, The Lone Peak also has a side ladder access option for $200 and you do not have to add the side tent doors for an extra $525 like you do with the GFC, you just add the ladder with Lone Peak. I went to the GFC site and configured a Platform Camper for my Gladiator here are the specs; Rear window only, Side tent doors, (not sure if this option includes the ladder). Delivery and install location Belgrade, MT the cheapest install/delivery location they offer. Total $8600.00 My Lone Peak specs; Juicebox & Interior Lighting, 240w (set of 2) Ultralight Solar Panels, Roof Vent Fan, Grab Handles - Set of 2, External Side Ladder, Low Load Bars, Passenger Side Vent. Free installation in Wenatchee, WA. Total $8820.00. I think the Loan Peak is worth another look for you. Also, I like the bed set up on the Loan Peak. It is on gas struts and the whole bed can be pushed up and out of the way. The GFC bed is made of flat panels that you have to move and stack.

Great video as im in the same market....Super Pacific is hands down the best wedge camper bit way too pricey for what it is. Im stuck on the Project M or Lone Peak. I was accepted as an embassador so i may pull the trigger. GFC is not the one for me at all especially in colder weather. Oh and Lone Peak has a ladder option and would be better!

Great video. I did so much research on this topic. Plus I have a friends that have the Super Pacific, alu-cab and GoFast which was helpful for comparison. I went with the Topo Topper - I am a huge fan of their build and quality is top notch. Either one you get will have issues and minor difference. I found with wedge style truck campers you get basically a very similar experience with which ever one you go with. Its mostly all about what you want to do yourself for the build out... so I went with a cheaper option. Also a huge selling point was if something broke was it a custom made and unique to that brand? Would I have to go to that same company to get it fixed or could I just go to the hardware store and DIY it. Some cons (mostly minor) to the Topo where you can tell they cut some cost to keep them affordable. 2 keys. Side hatch and rear hatch keys are not the same (side hatches are actually done by another company I believe) Cant open the side hatches from the inside..or at least I cant figure out how to. Small side windows in pop up tent. Side windows also don't have a zipper to open the screen just the initial tent canvas.

Check out Dirtbox Canopy Camper. Fairly new to this exploding market, but checked almost every box for me. Lots of company history and modular options. Mine installs next week on my 2nd gen Tundra. It helped me to have the 'must have' boxes and 'things I am willing to compromise on' boxes as I worked through the decision making process. Good luck! Looking forward to see what you choose.

I put on down Payment on the Loan Peak since it was a great deal but as I looking into it more I realized it wouldn't be enough space with the tapered top and limited sleeping platform length. I'm 6'5". It was adjustable but only by losing standing room space on the other side. With having three kids I felt that the Harker EDC was my best option since it offers the longest bed platform of any wedge camper I have seen as well as wider then most. The anex extends over the 5 foot bed of my truck which would make my lower level bed area another sleeping space for kids. it was not nearly as cheap as the loan peak but better then most of the rest of the options available.

You could build one to test out for a year, wood and basic windows or whatever you want tons of videos to make one

The tune m1 camper seems to be the best bang for your buck

I'm strongly considering the Lonepeak camper for my Colorado ZR2 5' bed. I think it is the best value and a very sleek low profile design. I'm tall and I appreciate that with the full 80" length bed deployed there is still 32" of passthrough room to stand up in the bed, this is accomplished by having a much longer front overhang than the other options. The bed is also on struts so you can push it out of the way and have really great headroom in the entire 5' bed, plus the rear end of the tent pops out for even more interior volume. I also like that the side doors are full length and a nice flat panel design. It seems pretty middle of the road weight wise, I think I would go light on the options and focus on my "build out" being as light as possible. There are some really great videos out there on lightweight building practices for trailers and vans using DIY composites (Foam board and other materials) that save a ton of weight compared to typical plywood construction.

I would take the lone peak on value for money personally but im waiting for the Addax which is specifically made for the gladiator. It also has a lot more utilities available then others. It wont be out until early next year but i would definitely check it out if i were you. Especially with your needs and wants

Gfc is the one I've been looking at except there isn't material on the roof so any condensation drips down towards the hinges and gets the bed wet. Price point seems high on most of these builds too lone peak has done a good job so far but they will have some kinks to figure out since they r bran new. Can't wait to see what u go with and how u like it

I've only had my GFC for a couple months and I love it. BIG THING you need to realize with GFC (altho this kinda goes for all of them), is you need to set your expectations. This is NOT an Alu-cab, or any other $13k - $18k + camper. There are draw backs so make sure to research those. Big ones I've seen around are the tent windows and how they zip down with the screens on the inside, as well as lack of elevated ventilation in the tent. There are vent windows but there isn't a mechanism to keep snow or water/rain out when they are open so you have to get a bit creative IF you have condensation issues (I haven't so far). So long as you understand you're getting into an eco-system designed to be bare bones for YOU to mod you should have a good experience. Also ... water SHOULD NOT come into the tent area, they should have these all fixed now (they had an issue with some earlier builds they invested a LOT into R&D to fix). However, water DOES come into the bed area. Its up to you to seal the bed before install, and even then you may get some slight intrusion in heavy rainfall. This is with every topper tho for the most part. Sealing corners and bed caps will eliminate this. Also a quick note on the "quality issues" of GFC's. This lightweight wedge camper market is pretty new still and GFC has between 6500 - 7000 campers ON THE ROAD. Therefore you are naturally GOING to hear the quality issues from the largest market share holder. However this doesn't point to poor quality. It points to a larger market share holder having more campers out there and more complaints based on the fact they have the most campers out there. Its easy to get the idea that GFC is a low quality option because theres a bunch of negative reviews. The question is what is the ratio of negative experiences to positive. Most positive experiences aren't in the forums or on KZfaq, they're out using the camper. The GREAT thing GFC has is (and most would acknowledge this) the BEST customer service in this entire market. Just my 2 cents! All of the options in this vid you can't lose with! you just have to make sure you have the right expetations for experience going into whichver one you purchase!

Harker Outdoors makes a camper that would work for you and they are having a special now, $2000 off.

Can't stand up in it but I personally prefer the Moonlander. But if I were going for a pop-top I'd go with Oru Designs. They have a hard side topper integrated with fabric corners. They also do a wedge camper that's very affordable. I followed the Go Fast forum for awhile. They think the platform is fantastic but they aren't so thrilled with the tent. Both condensation issues and issues with opening the side doors from inside. They say if they can afford it they'd go with the Super Pacific. Everyone feels quality wise they're tops. Have you looked at Anti-Shanty? They have both a hardside rtt and a pop-top that's hard sided called the Dwell Shell. If security is a concern they're an option. Another thing I see people complain about both rtt's and wedge pop-tops is the wind noise in high winds. Something to consider. That's a good reason to look at the Oru Designs Bruin. Good luck!

Great video. I'm interested in seeing what options will be available for the upcoming Cybertruck. One video that turned me on to the potnetion of a truck bed topper is this video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nd1-fdyZpr28dGw.html&lc=UgwZ_52CG4ufnuYfPZB4AaABAg), which is a Korean dude with a Ford Ranger and an Overland camper topper (from his video). He has everything inside: a work space inside the truck to sit at a desk, super important for me (I get that not being able to work as needed is a show stopper, same here as a business owner). He has a padded seat and enough headroom once he opens the top doors, and lots of storage. He has a bunch of external stuff that I wouldn't bother with, but damn the guy is living his best life.
