I needed coals for my chicken pot pie, so I made coffee using the charcoal briquettes in my Esbit stove and saved them in a nesting cup until I needed them later. Yes, the charcoal kept very hot in that nesting cup.
NOTE: I used the Bigfoot Bushcraft fire plugs to ignite the charcoal briquettes. They worked fantastic!
