#Canucks held a closed practice today for season ticket holders (which I am sadly not one of, thank you Alan for the invite) ahead of their matchup against the Los Angeles #Kings. The practice had similar tempo's to ones prior, nothing notably different throughout. However, it was nice to see that Connor Garland was being talked to a lot during and after practice. His impact on the team is visible, having had a few successful stints on the first line with Pettersson and Höglander (who has also been having a great few games)!
At the end of practice, Kirk McLean was guest speaking and had a little Q&A with the season ticket holders.

Thanks for sharing this is so cool when the team opens this up to full season ticket members.

Usually anyone can just walk in to see them practice, nothin special

@@bennisles9521 Unfortunately, not true. The only time practices are open to the public are when they are using public facilities where they have no jurisdiction over (ie; university facilities, public rinks like the 8-rinks) or when they host in-arena events like this one, open only to media and season ticket holders. Getting a media credential is also not very easy... I looked into it 😂

I'm so confused. Is that Demers practicing with the team? Or is that Silovs? I know the black pads is DeSmith. Pretty sure that's Demko. Just based on style of play. Which is good that he's getting his reps in. Second edit: That's Silovs. Arty Party and NOT Demko.

Black pads = DeSmith, White pads = Silovs. No Demko at practice. Edit: Didnt notice you made an edit until after I replied 😂

im really curious to know if the sedins can still go in the nhl

Probably, but would go slow. Feels like they retired too soon.
@RUmlas

@@karlkarlsson9126 health reasons were why they retired. Like you said, they were seeing their pace declining and didn't want to slow their retool/rebuild.

The Sedins could more then certainly still play in the NHL. Why would they though? They are healthy enough to be Ass. Coaches and are evidently doing a really good job with teaching the forward core. I wouldn't want the job to be with anyone else. I hope the next couple generations of Canucks forwards are coached by the Sedins.

Doubt it. Most successful NHL careers last around 15 seasons (and 15-20 for the generational talents), pushing past 20 is very rare, and usually players that do it, don't perform to the same standards they used to have. For 2024, this would be the 25th season if they Sedins still played

@@roland8775 I wasn't talking about them being on the first line. I was more saying they could be on a third line. First line is not what they are anymore.

Im no hockey coach, but at the 3min mark at the beginning that looks so disorganized like they are doing something but arent...all the players in the middle circle and expect other players to skate around them etc

that is a very organized drill
@9eightFilms

It’s very fair to comment that it looks disorganized, but it’s actually very organized. They’re set up in the centre of the ice in order to slip in and continue a circular breakout scheme which leads to an offensive chance at the net. It allows for a continuous flow of bodies. It’s hard to capture on camera with my phone, but there’s like 8 people involved at one time! Super cool to watch in person.

From my midget/Bantam days we usually sat around and stretched out, Th C would usually take the lead and the practice would begin. Fair Q.

I've never seen that at pro hockey practice. Even though I've never been to many. But it does looked organized with players at centre looking to break in at the right moment. It reminds me of the speed skating team relays in the winter olympics.
