Do not confuse spur grommets with the common washer grommets that are sold in hardware stores everywhere. Spur grommets are of heavier metal with spurs all around the inside rim of the washer that lock into a rolled edge on the barrel part of the grommet. As a result, they will not easily pull out of the fabric.

What kind of rubber mat material are you using on the bottom? I have been using a wood block, but it gets torn up after a few grommets.

Why does my grommet come out pretty easy I have the spur set with the proper tools I just can't seem to set it no matter how hard I hit it with the hammer

They are actually called eyelets.

Wrong. An eyelet is 1 piece . A grommet is 2 piece
