Thanks a million times for this video. We've lived over 26 years on Cape Breton and I've learned more in 12 minutes than all our years here. I personally don't play the violin but various other instruments; Piano, accordion, guitar and trying hard to learn concertina and mandolin. I play in a local group and certainly would enjoy a similar video on piano accompaniment (Cape Breton style of course). Cheers.

What a beautiful music I could just listen to you all day. I’d love to visit Cape Breton someday I heard it’s a beautiful place. How blessed we are in Canada to have that beautiful culture.

Well done! Danced all my life to the fiddle and didn't know any of this!

That was very brief but very informative. Thanks for that presentation, I really enjoyed it. I've been a musician for most of my adult life but have only recently started playing the fiddle. I'm in my mid-50s now but having more fun than ever. Those little nuances you described are golden information. Thanks again.

Celtic music explained in a very interesting way. Really lovely. Etiquette, to me, is very important. Clapping is reserved for the end of the performance. To be in a full hall at an Echoes of Erin concert and hearing everyone living the music and tapping the time with the foot on the floor is something else.

Thanks. There's so much to learn about this tradition. As an aside, a puirt-a-beul was used in the dance in the first episode of Sanditon, the first time I'd really appreciated what these could be. It was very expressive and energetic.
