An amateur's perspective on the beauty of Cape May with some toung-in-cheek moments. Dolphins, of course, but take a walk through some of what's been preserved for, or given back to, nature.
I've been here before. This was late June. I saw a wider variety of birds when I was here in July, but even the time of day or weather could have contributed to the difference.
Wish I had better equipment to do justice to the place and its inhabitants.
Advice to adventurers, expect biting flies on paths closest to the beach, especially if the air is still, longer sleeves or pants in the cooler evening, stick to main paths to avoid if you are unprepared. Bug net cover for my head would have been golden in the evening.
Poison ivy abounds just off the main paths. Long pants to get ideal shots. I wasn't prepared and didn't take the chance.
The state land trails near the lighthouse offer the most shade on a hot day. Flies can still be a nuisance.
