Cape Town Slalom Sessions 2021 | Andy Laufer

3 жыл бұрынOnce again i was able to spend a few weeks with my family in Cape Town. By closing down the famous beaches due to Covid-19, I was able to discover new spots that I would probably never have surfed otherwise . The following is a description of the spots I could capture with my GoPro Hero9 Black:
Paarden Eiland - Cape Town Harbour:
Parking at the end of Lagoon Beach Drive there is a perfect spot to go slalom sailing. I used a 6.6 Neil Pryde EVOXII with a JP Australia 72 Proto 2022 and a NoLo 37 Model 5 fin that day. The higher you go upwind, the gustier the wind becomes. Right next to Cape Town Harbour you can do some proper speed runs, chasing those South-Easter gusts from behind. Sooo much fun! That light at sunset is just insane. I loove this view! Especially when you suddently find yourself in the middle of a dolphin school! They hang out there most of the time, playing, watching and showing off jumping.
Nordhoek Beach - Kommetje:
Had to go out in Kommetje as the Nordhoek Beach was closed. Straight offshore winds here with some rocks, funny shades and kelp in the water. If you sail around Kommetje point, you come straight to my favorite beach - Nordhoek Beach! That water colour and that Chapman's Peak view is just insane! The South-Easter at Kommetje point was gusting up to gnarly 40kn that day. The other side near Nordhoek was much lighter, maybe around 20kn. For speedsailing the best spot is near Kommetje. Super flat water, less waves and super strong winds. Had to be careful as i was alone. You don't wanna crash out there in the middle of nowhere.
Kraalbaii - Langebaan:
Beautiful spot for the whole family. Super warm and flat water where you might see and "feel" some sand rays and sand sharks on your feet :)
Trekoskraal - Paternoster:
What an unspoiled beauty. Super nice spot for slalom, freestyle and some small waves.

Great POV videos as always, wonderful how you can capture and share the windsurfing vibe. I just love your content, it adlmost feels like I’m on the water myself while watching. Not sure if it is only me, but I’ve always liked your pure sounds of nature in the videos, the mix with music is great here8 Although I lack a bit of wind and water sounds when the music gets a bit louder after 2 minutes... Any chance you might consider increasing the original footage sound a bit? Might increase the size of my goosebumps ;)

Weil der Segel ziemlich flat getrimmt war und/od. weil Wasser ziemlich flach? Falls normal settings - please discard ... Anyway: sieht wie immer toll aus / enjoy !

those tracks a all from Sebastian Zenke, Hamburg. He is music composer. Those tracks are unfortunately not available on the market. I told him to produce his 1st album. Would be super nice! Guy is a genius.

No, they get scared - wich is good :)

@@AndyLaufer Yes, you probably right, smaller sharks get scared, but great whites not so sure. Here in Spain, only 2 unprovoked shark attacks in the last 100 years. One attack was to a swimmer and the other one was to a windsurfer in Tarifa by a great white. He was lucky, he only had the right foot amputated. That was in 1986 when windsurf boards were not as fast as now, though.

A lot of my friends used to go for windsurfing trip with their families in Cape Town but the last couple of years they avoid this place due to criminality. Weren't you afraid for your family or it isn't as bad as they say?

Very good video, with unique atmosphere. Music also labels, illustrates the feeling of the soul of this endTime. The whole video shows a shortcut from society of surreal zombies. We born to be free, not to be locked and masked forced vaccinated. These pure elements of the created nature are magnify our Almighty Father : beautiful waters, sand, air, blue dome, and free human as we originally are! HaleluYah! Nuce job dear friend Andy!

nice, thanks for uploading! dolphins could get samuraid by your fin. What size sail and fin you using with your JP 71? I just ordered a JP 71 slalom board and NP 7,4 rs racing. Can't wait! edit, ok I see now you used a 6,6 - 7,4 - 8,2

Wow. Looks great. & dolphins. I’m guessing… but at 6:16 can you just see the boiler from Kakapo shipwreck? Used in the film “Ryans Daughter”. I always thought the entire film was shot in Ireland until I visited Dingle in Ireland where the rest of the film was shot, and learned they went to South Africa for some of the beach scenes
