Hi Alvin l am currently pursuing CAPM. I also purchased your ultimate project mastery course, I m also doing Prince 2 foundation and practioner, Prince 2 Agile l have followed your advice and enrolled in prep courses on udemy, so thanks to your and your channel l got back on track l look forward to passing CAPM and Prince 2. Very helpful video 👌🏼 Currently, I am studying for the CAPM exam and completed my 23 hours of project management education through the PM PrepCast (taught by Cornelius Fitchner, PMP). I plan to apply for the CAPM exam this summer.

Thanks for this, Alvin! I'm currently a physician and am looking at options besides clinical medicine. I just started looking into project management and thinking that maybe one day, I can end up as COO and transition to administration. This has been pretty helpful in understanding what the different certifications mean.

Steven, thank you so much for the kind words and sharing your experience! I've met many other physicians as well who ended up pursuing other opportunities outside of clinical medicine. Project Management and is also a great path as well, since many high-level leadership & executive roles require those same skills and analytical thinking

Hi Alvin, thank you very much for your video. I managed small projects for 3 years as a Reliability Project Engineer and for last 8 months I am working as Operational Readiness Reliability Engineer under Major Project devision of BHP, one of the world's biggest mining companies. I have a 4 year engineering bachelor degree and 2 years Masters degree. I also finished my Google Project Management course recently from Coursera. My question is can I directly sit for PMP exam without sitting for CAPM ? If so for my project management experience what I need to submit to PMI? Thanks in advance.

I'd encourage you to go for your PMP, since it sounds like you might already meet the minimum 3 years experience of managing projects. Hi Alvin, love your work for the project management community! Can I please request a video on Google Project Mangement certificate vs. IBM IT Project Management certificate, both on Coursera. Google PM vs. CAPM vs. PMP has been done a lot now. It would be nice to bring more certificates into comparison. For me CAPM and PMP are basically Entry vs. Advanced certificates, both offered by PMI. One should match their skill and experience and go for the certification accordingly. There is not much more to it. I have CSM (Scrum), CAPM and IBM IT Project Management (Coursera) under my belt and looking for other certifications to upskill myself to get my foot into the door of project management world. I am in a career transition from accounting. Also a suggestion for what other specialisations/professional certificates on Coursera should one consider in order to become a well rounded (Assistant) Project Manager. For example: # Business English Communication from Uni of ABC... # Leading People and Teams from Uni of XYZ... # Conflict Management from Uni of PQR... # Solving Complex Problems from ..... # Strategising, Influencing, Negotiating, etc..... Not all but may be which one or two would be essential/great to have. I know it depends on one's personal assessment as to which skill one lacks but generally which one will be most useful in the PM role....? PM certifications are essential at the core of the PM work, but one needs to have more than just the core PM certifications to really be a successful PM.

It's not just the technical side of knowing how to manage projects, but also the interpersonal skills with communication, negotiation, team building, and leadership.
