Don't worry about spoilers in the end credits scenes - they lead into the next movie, but they never spoil it. They're always worth it. Edit: Except for this one and No Way Home - they have trailers in the end credits.

That's one of the things that disgusted me when I first watched the movie. She wouldn't even look at Steve when he was small, but only started lusting after him after the serum. I can't believe people actually like and support that relationship...like wtf?!?

Yes! Been waiting for this one because it’s the Phase 1 “solo” Avenger film I enjoyed the most. I was a fan of Captain America before this came out and I really appreciated the effort they put into it and recreating the pulpy and occasionally cheesy feel of comics from World War 2

Hey! You guys are back! Fantastic. A few things: Never skip the credits scenes. They are important! But if you're going to skip any, this one, and another are primarily trailer footage, so that's okay. Also, the next movie is the Avengers. Following that, you can watch the next two One-Shots. They're a bit longer and have more of a self sustained story with Agent Carter and Item 47. Technically you could watch Agent Carter's One-Shot now. But the final one can't be seen until after Iron Man 3. This is my second favorite phase 1 movie. Love it!

A small detail that shows how well all these movies tie together as part of a cohesive universe: Remember in the Hulk movie that Blonsky underwent a process to make him stronger and faster so he could take on the Hulk? And that Banner experimented on himself? Both of those were attempts to recreate what was done to Steve in this movie. After Erskine died and took the details of the Super Soldier Process with him to the grave, the U.S. military spent decades trying to rediscover the process, to varying degrees of success/failure. Recall what Erskine said about the process magnifying what you already had? "The good becomes better, the bad becomes worse"? And then look back at how the career soldier Blonsky rapidly went over the edge as the serum he took amplified his aggressive personality.

Right, so as I mentioned previously you can start watching the "Agent Carter" series at any point from here on (Now the name actually means something, doesn't it!😉), but I was mistaken in my earlier comment. There is an Easter Egg in Endgame, so you may want to at least check it out in addition to the "Agent Carter One-Shot". I'll also remind you that after the first Avengers movie, you may want to check out the first episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.". You'll understand once you've seen it.

Some infos about the movie The Howling Commando (the soldiers Steve rescues who become his team) are originally from an old action war comic by Marvel - "Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos" (led by Nick Fury). The group is a pretty good representation of those characters, visually and all. :D The one funny thing is, Nick Fury in the comics used to be a white middle-aged guy who served in a bunch of wars and was a great soldier/agent guy. For the MCU, they just decided to instead cast him with with Samual L. Jackson. Because why not, right? And the movies were all the better for it! :D Another thing - the Tesseract (the blue glowing cube) was already shown before. It was in the suitcase that Nick Fury showed to Dr. Selvig at the end of Thor! And then Loki/Selvig (?) was all "Oh we will look into this!" Also, there is a short movie called Agent Carter, which you can watch after the next movie, Avengers :) And after that was made, the positive reactions were so good, they actually made a TV show (2 seasons) with the same name together with ABC, which showed Agent Carter's post WWII adventures! It's also on Disney+, but it's basically it's own thing, fully optional.

The original Captain America comics were created during WWII as a propaganda effort, Captain America back then was wearing the costume from his stage career in this movie, and used the first shield throughout the run. He had a teenage side-kick back then named Bucky Barnes :D After the war, he was not really relevant anymore and his comic book stopped, only to be revived (literally - they used the same "frozen in ice" plot) in the 80s with a fresh new design and a round shield. But they didn't let him fight nazis anymore, so Marvel created HYDRA as a stand-in for nazis, basically the HYDRA from this movie, but it had survived past the war and was operating in the shadows for Steve to hunt down. Peggy Carter also showed up in all these comics in some role. There is a famous panel in which he literally punches Hitler - which the movie ran with as well. So Marvel took elements from all these publication times and made a really fun story out of it that combined them all (WWII, HYDRA, Bucky, etc).

Back in WWII, Germany was practically top of the world when it came to war industry. Lugers were prized among Allied soldiers when looting dead SS officers. And some of the weapons we see HYDRA create here, Germany actually did try to create, but didn't have the resources to mass produce. The Amerika Bomber, which was the inspiration behind Red Skull's ship, and the Ratte, which was a tank large enough to crush a house.

A tesseract is a 4d cube. An impossible thing to describe with words.. but essentially the 4th dimension is time Like how a 3d object can traverse a 2d plain (a metal ball can shoot through a piece of paper, and whilst going through touches both sides of the hole at the same time). A 4d object can travese 3d space, and whilst doing so would touch and 'connect' two distant parts of the hole in our 3d plain. Or cause a wormhole which teleports you into distant space. ;)

*Extremely* trivial point, but if you look at a world map, you'll see that if you're flying from Europe (say, Germany) to North America, or vice versa, you fly over the North Pole and the Arctic, not the southern Antarctic. You'll eventually find out the fate of the Red Skull (NOBODY SPOIL ANYTHING FOR SOFA AND CHILL!!!), but you'll have to be very patient. And there are certain still unanswered questions. That's all I'm saying. Lewis (is that the right spelling?), want to hear more of what you're thinking of stuff as the movies progress. I wish I could be your age and seeing all the MCU for the first time. (Consider at some point checking out some eras of some of the comics, maybe? Just a thought.)

Also if someone didn't write on Ironman 2 the kid Tony save was Peter Parker/ Spiderman. People you get seen in comic's are hero's and villain's. They also a tv series that are after the movies that join up too. Like after this Tv series called Agent Carter that has Peggy and the butler Jarvis,

Hey, Kev and Lewis! Chronologically, this is the first MCU film excepting the two framing scenes set in 2011. I feel it's an overlooked gem that establishes so many future films and introduces the moral center of the Marvel Universe. Much like in the film, Steve Rogers is a character plucked from a different era in Marvel's publishing history. In the 1940's, Marvel was known as Timely Comics and sought to produce a patriotic propaganda character to raise awareness of Nazi aggression in Europe. Writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby came up with Captain America whose first issue in 1941 featured a cover that had Cap socking Hitler in the jaw! It was an immediate sensation and flew off the racks! Cap came with a triangular shield and a teen sidekick called Bucky but had the shield design changed to a circular shape in the second issue because of complaints of copying the triangular design of another company's patriotic character. A young staff writer called Stan Lee had Cap sling his shield as a trademark offensive maneuver in a text-only filler story in the third issue! As popular as the comic proved to be, it also drew criticism for its pro-war position as many Americans wanted to remain neutral in Europe's war. Angry protestors gathered outside Timely's offices and NYC Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia had to post police protection for the building. Simon and Kirby collaborated on the first ten issues. Decades later, when Lee and Kirby created the Marvel Universe in 1961, three characters were plucked from the Timely Golden Age and dropped into the Marvel Silver Age: the android Human Torch, Prince Namor of Atlantis and Captain America. The super-soldier was found by the Avengers in ice-bound suspended animation in the North Atlantic where he had disappeared thwarting an act of aerial terror at the end of World War II. The founding Avengers were Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp and Hulk but, after their discovery of Steve in the fourth issue, Cap became a mainstay of the team often leading them as Chairman. Director Joe Johnston had experience with pulpy period earnestness with "The Rocketeer" and infuses this film with the charm of that one while also incorporating much of Cap's publishing history into the character's on-screen biography. The entire propaganda sequence brilliantly incorporates the Hitler punch and his triangular shield. His scrawny origin as a Depression-era kid from Brooklyn who likes to draw, his multiple attempts to enlist, his training under Colonel Chester Phillips at Camp Lehigh, Abraham Erskine's super-soldier experiment and his nemesis Red Skull are all very comic accurate. The cinematography has a desaturated sepia quality to it that evokes the past. Marvel had a World War II-era comic called "Sergeant Fury and the Howling Commandos". Comic Nick Fury is a World War II veteran whose vigor has been maintained by a diluted form of the super-soldier serum called the Infinity Formula. The squad he led was a diverse group that consisted of bowler hat-wearing Boston Irish Timothy 'Dum Dum' Dugan, African-American Gabe Jones, New York Jew Izzy Cohen, Japanese-American Jim Morita, Italian-American Dino Manelli, Southerner Rob 'Rebel' Ralston, Brit Percival 'Pinky' Pinkerton, German defector Eric Koenig and greenhorn Johnny 'Junior' Juniper. They were occasionally aided by French Resistance fighter Jacques 'Frenchie' Dernier. Fury's team answered to General Samuel 'Happy Sam' Sawyer who had a stony disposition. Johnston notably includes James Montgomery Falsworth's Union Jack as part of the team! Union Jack was a British nobleman and costumed adventurer during World War I who came out of retirement to lend Cap a hand in World War II. Despite an incomplete roster, Johnston brings the Howling Commandos to life fighting side-by-side with Cap! The cast is incredible! This was Chris Evan's second stab at superheroics and he was reluctant to put on the spandex again. However, Robert Downey, Jr. convinced him and the role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America fit like a glove. Sebastian Stan's brotherly love as James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes comes through as does Hayley Atwell's sympathy and fire as Peggy Carter. Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Dominic Cooper as young Howard Stark, Toby Jones as Dr. Arnim Zola and Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt aka the Red Skull round out the cast. Lending support as the Howling Commandos are Neal McDonough as Dugan, Derek Luke as Jones, Kenneth Choi as Morita, Bruno Ricci as Dernier and J.J. Feild as Falsworth aka Union Jack. Richard Armitage of "The Hobbit" ensures the serum will never be replicated as Hydra assassin Heinz Kruger. Natalie Dormer and David Bradley of "Game of Thrones" pop up in small roles as a man-eating WAC and a grizzled Norwegian, respectively. William Hope of "Aliens" has a bit part as the SHIELD officer overseeing Cap's excavation and Laura Haddock makes her film debut as an autograph seeker. Naturally, Samuel L. Jackson shows up as Col. Nick Fury to put in his two-cents. The screenplay brilliantly integrates Howard Stark, substitutes an Infinity Stone for the traditional Cap MacGuffin, the Cosmic Cube, links the Tesseract to Asgard, ages up Bucky and incorporates Peggy Carter from comic Cap's wartime flashbacks. Erskine's pep talk the night before the procedure is so crucial as to why Steve is a hero and his benefactor's wisdom echoes throughout the rest of Cap's life: "Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing: that you will stay who you are; not a perfect soldier but a good man." Steve's tactical acumen is demonstrated by his unorthodox solution to the flagpole challenge which earns him a ride with Peggy and her admiration. It's reminiscent of Alexander's brilliantly direct solution of slicing through the Gordian Knot. Of course, Steve's inability to quit against impossible odds represented by his boast "I can do this all day" comes full-circle for an amazing payoff at the saga's conclusion! Finally, Steve's forlorn "I had a date" is so laden with unfulfilled promise and poignancy. TRIVIA: 1. James Howlett aka Wolverine and Max Eisenhardt aka Magneto were to have cameos as a soldier and as a concentration camp prisoner, respectively, but the characters were owned by 20th-Century Fox and could not be used. 2. Hayley Atwell tentatively touching Steve's chest post-transformation was not scripted but was the actress' genuine awestruck reaction to Chris Evans' physique. EASTER EGGS: 1. Encased in a glass chamber at the World Expo is Phineas Horton's Synthetic Man, the android Human Torch. This is one of the three Timely-era characters resurrected along with Namor and Cap for Silver Age Marvel Comics in the '60's. 2. Kenneth Choi plays Howling Commando Jim Morita's grandson as well when he appears as the Principal of Peter Parker's school in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". 3. Captain America autograph seeker Laura Haddock has been confirmed as Meredith Quill's grandmother since Haddock also played Meredith in "Guardians of the Galaxy". That would make her Peter Quill's great-grandmother. CAMEO: 1. Stan Lee appears as a General at the Washington award ceremony where Cap is a no-show commenting on how he thought the super-soldier would be taller when he mistakes the panicked handler who rushes onstage for the Captain. Lol. END-CREDIT SCENES: 1. The first end-credit scene is just an excerpt from "Avengers". 2. The second end-credit scene is a sizzle reel of "Avengers". The next chronological stop in the MCU is Season 1 of the "Agent Carter" TV series.

As others have said, the end credit scenes are not spoilers and are intended to give you insight into how the next movie is connected. Great reactions, I'm glad you both liked it. This one is not very high on my MCU list, it's still good, just not quite my taste. Really the only thing that allowed Steve to survive in the ice for 70 years is his super metabolism and altered genetics and it's really not explained beyond the implication.

Stanley Tucci has been great in about two zillion characters over decades of movies and TV. He's got 137 credits at IMDB as an actor just now going back to 1985. He first had major parts in MIAMI VICE in three episodes circa 1987-1988. Sometimes in recent years he stars, earlier he was a character actor.

@@NoHandleGrr I have seen him in a variety of roles, by I was especially entertained by his supporting character in "Undercover Blues." It started me noticing his acting.

So, I've discovered this channel via the first Iron Man, and I gotta say you lads are an absolute hoot to watch. I'm lovin' every episode, and although it's gonna be a while until you get to see my favourite MCU character debut, I'll be looking forward to each one. Cheers!

The end credit scene is a must to watch, its a marvel thing and no its not a spoiler.

No, they're quite correct that it goes into a trailer for THE AVENGERS; the only bit prior to that is the opening scene of THE AVENGERS. They are in fact correctly avoiding spoilers here. And no, the trailer is not a "must to watch." You must be thinking of some other MCU movie.

@@NoHandleGrr nah you’re so wrong bro it just leads into the next movie. Its a tradition to watch the end credit scenes, if it were a spoiler marvel wouldn’t put it.

I have never liked this movie because it just plays so heavily into american propaganda. Like I get that cap and co can wreck the hydra soldiers, but the american GIs in the climax should have been being wasted left and right by such advanced tech and soldiery.

@@tk-6967 You get to dislike whatever movies you wish to. I'm just saying that the set-in-WW-II CAPTAIN AMERICA is pretty reasonable for it to be a bit "rah-rah, America!" I mean, it's right in his name. That's all. WINTER SOLDIER is my favorite of the Cap-only films, myself.
