I'm one of the people who really has a bad taste in my mouth following Brie Larson's comments, and gotta be honest, I had no idea she was Envy and I LOVED Envy in that movie. Her rendition of Black Sheep - Metric has been in my KZfaq playlist for like 7 years. Given that I now know she was Envy, I really do think she's a great actress. She does the dry role really well. That being said, I really don't think she was correctly cast for Captain Marvel. But that's just my opinion :)

Jar head makes a good point. People aren't "trolling". They're voicing real unhappiness with her and her comments and the injection of politics into what was once nothing but entertainment. People are allowed to have differing opinions. If you don't agree with us, that's absolutely fine! But why should everyone "nevermind the critics" and keep muting and censoring us? Why aren't we allowed to have a negative opinion about something? If you really do love her, then I would encourage you to explore just one or two videos that might explain the controversy from an objective standpoint. If you do a youtube search for some of the videos that cover it, some of them might focus on some petty stuff when commenting on the whole debacle, I would suggest to try and ignore the petty stuff and just focus on what's factual. I had started typing it out myself to explain some of the controversy, but you might not trust me. Really, check out a video with 10 minutes of your time :) And you'll see the information given in it's appropriate context with facts and sources. And again, you're allowed to have your opinion, I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy the movie, but rather to just try seeing why people are upset instead of writing us off as trolls. Have a nice night!
@yeonjundani
@yeonjundani 5 жыл бұрын
@@smushycows2334 I don't think anyone in this thread is saying that people can't have their own opinions. But I think even people have to analyse what the critics are saying , which are overall, still humans and there can be element of subjectivity in what they say. If people would analyze and not jump onto the bandwagon because they had heard bits and pieces of news and follow or are pressurised into listening to what others say, which is the case for many people as well. So even if someone comes across any article, perhaps even yes there can be negative connotation to what was said , instead of saying that is the absolute truth, bother to read up more or go through other sources where the celebrity may have said things differently. I think many times people of this age are over sensitive and triggered by what others say without thinking much about it. Besides, what I've seen many people have not watched the movie but are already judging the movie based on naysayers and other people's reviews. If they want to comment about the movie they should watch the movie,appreciate the movie for what it is and the character in the movie
@yeonjundani
@yeonjundani 5 жыл бұрын
@@jarhead3571 I have watched the movie and this is my view of it. Perhaps you can watch it and let us know what you think. No one is saying that our opinions are the absolute truth, but there are people who haven't watched the movie and apparently have thoughts about it based on what they read. I would say that it is really belittling the effort of the filmmakers actors and characters to the least
@smushycows2334
@smushycows2334 5 жыл бұрын
@@yeonjundani I think something isn't working properly on my end for youtube, both your replies seem to be cut off, but wanted to start by saying thank you for taking the time to write out a wholesome and respectful response. I think I get the main ideas of what you're saying though, and I do agree to an extent that people are probably a little bit trigger happy to jump on the bandwagon. I mentioned in my earlier comment that I hate the really petty arguments that people are making just out of their negative emotions. I've tried to view this objectively and have had a number of conversations with people who see it from the other side for the exact reason of not wanting to be a blind guy swinging. And I've definitely constructed my own opinions on the whole controversy and on the movie itself. I think a lot of people who are being called trolls don't have any problem with strong female characters or equality or any of that which is being said about "haters" in the mainstream journalism reports. We like to point out that Alita which is in theaters at the same time managed to achieve what Wonder Woman did and what Captain Marvel wanted to do. Women can be strong and powerful without the "woman" part being what makes her strong and powerful. She's criticized as a Mary Sue, and in my opinion rightfully so. She has no big weakness to overcome except for her memory issues. And then things click and she's a god. Source: wegotthiscovered.com/movies/kevin-feige-says-captain-marvel-will-be-stronger-than-even-thanos/ This is upsetting to fans of the MCU because it's like...what did I spend the last 10 years investing in these characters for if they're gonna shove someone into the universe 2 months before End Game who makes everyone else irrelevant? It didn't make sense to many fans why the direction they took would be to shove in a new hero that people felt forced to see the movie for because they make claims of grandeur that this movie is vital to watch end game. And then if you don't like the movie they call you sexist. It makes it feel like pandering to the feminist movement as an excuse rather than trying to make a character substantiated on merit. And my last critique is that I loved Brie Larson in Scott Pilgrim Vs. the world. I didn't even know that was her until a few weeks ago. Literally had a crush on her in that role. But as Captain Marvel, she didn't seem the super hero type. Edit: I definitely understand this last comment above is the most subjective of them all, just my opinion lol And this point may be less apparent to many people, since not everyone plays video games. But the injection of left-leaning politics has gotten really old to a lot of people who have been subjected to it in entertainment for a while (Battlefield 5 is a prime example). It's like the equivalent to Colin Kaepernick kneeling before every football game. People don't watch football to observe protests. They don't drive cars to encounter 2 hour traffick jams due to protests happening in the middle of the street. They don't want to watch movies that are turned into feminist propaganda. I think that people overreacted to the insertion of it into this movie (even though it was pretty on-the-nose), but I think they're just expressing frustration about the bigger picture of the entertainment industry doing this for "woke" points.

No matter what people say, I really like Brie Larson. For many reasons. Also because she's not as extroverted as most Hollywood stars. She is a fascinating, unique strong woman that after many years of hard work for not much got very lucky with her break - which she totally deservs for her great roles. I'm glad she got her break after struggling for so long.❤

50 million under the original domestic estimate. That was lowered to ensure it exceeded the estimate. Multiple GoFundMe accounts to inflate sales by thousands of tickets. Websites censoring free speech and changing algorithms to insulate it. Opened in 50 more theaters than Black Panther and made $60 million less. That's a lot of effort more mediocre numbers. Troll is just a word describing someone that disagrees with you these days. It's heavily misused to deflect.

I enjoyed the movie. Not best movie ever or anything, but I had fun. I like Brie Larson. And her opinion that the pool of movie critics needs to be more diverse didn’t make my butt sore in the slightest. Hating online is fun and all, I get it, but seriously, these attacks I’m seeing here sound really petty.

Wrong. Captain Marvel isn't the most powerful superhero in the marvel universe. That's the one above all. In the MCU, it's Thor because he is a God, and is more powerful than her. But props to Marvel, and Brie Larson. She went through alot to play the role. Well done. Captain Marvel was a great movie 🤟🏿 Lets just get mentally prepared for Endgame

I don't have anything against Brie Larson, I mean, common, like any of us "average folk" think most of Hollywood is in touch with reality? Not likely. Nevertheless, I really wish they cast this movie better. Either way, I don't think it would matter with the pacing, writing and directing choices made in Captain Marvel. On to Endgame.

All the shows are gimmicks. Reminds me of the old days when they started stuffing in black people in the movies. you could see they obviously doing it and that's the same thing they doing with the women in Hollywood. it's a box office draw. Women are the main star. hooray! Women power. Hooray! It is just a fad and it will go as soon as they find another gimmick. See the women now riding the wave of victimhood. So since everybody feels sorry for them and they are trying to promote some fake storyline about women overcoming things. but the truth is most victims are victims of their self and what they let happen to them. Fake narrative in Hollywood. First Hollywood tells you that you are less than and break you down then they try to fix you up. It's called manipulation!
